Seniman Bujang Lapok

This is quite a funny movie. As usual P. Ramlee, Aziz Sattar and S. Shamsuddin provide the laughs especially the scene involving Aziz Sattar, S. Shamsuddin and the motorcycle! The appearance by the late M.Zain and Zainon Fiji as the squabbling Indian couple was also a gem. The songs are also good with P. Ramlee and Saloma singing them.Although most of the ending of P. Ramlee comedies are almost the same(this movie and Pendekar Bujang Lapok)but I enjoyed them . I hope there will be a DVD version ( a box set will be good) of the movie together with the other Bujang Lapok movies. Interviews with the surviving cast like Aziz Sattar, S. Shamsuddin, Kuswadinata, Ahmad Mahmud and Hasimah Yon would be great and could be included in the DVD.

This was the last of the Bujang Lapok series so it was sort of a melancholy moment watching the movie. It was a treat though watching P. Ramlee and his wife, Saloma, star as lovers and even sing together. That itself made the movie really priceless. The humour was scattered though generous and the drama subtle but firm.

I watched this movie a lot of time since my childhood but never finish it. This is the first time I finish it. I think the first hour is good, but the second half become slower because too focus on Ramli's love story. The first half is so good you can still laugh even if you have watched it a thousands time. A legendary movie.

The best of the Bujang Lapok's films. A rare non-slapstick comedy that blends well the art of entertaining, picturing everyday's life of the 60's era (a coffee for 5 cent anyone?) and of course the magic touch of giving out moral value in such a simple way. There are really some great comedy like the trio's first screen test, the part where the trio filming Bujang Lapok In Baghdad (esp. the cow-poo dream peak) and the chaos they encounter as they learning their script. The dialog between Sudin and Aziz about 'new house'was in fact a marvelous spontaneous moment - that is now scarcely (or even none) in nowadays comedy flicks. And one might realise there are messages can be deduced from such sequence of "Hoi Singh!" outside the studio or the classic neighbours nightly havoc. You can call me nuts, but whether this film is aired on TV for the um-teenth times, I would be there to chill out and have those laugh (til tears sometimes) all by myself. Well, a bujang lapok like me has nothing else to do on a lazy weekend.

Masterpiece and ahead of its time. Just a simple plot but every scene was priceless. Unique actors, full of messages with comedy.
