Kyla Pratt filmed the pilot when she was 12-years-old and she was 14 when UPN ordered the show to series. This is why Pratt appears older in season 1 episode 2 than in the pilot.
The show's cancellation is in large part due to Dawn Ostroff's decision to change the target audience in season five, which caused a decline in ratings and prompted UPN not to renew for a sixth season.
