Cheeky chappy that he is, Robbie Williams is very used to being able to get any girl that he wants. So when he finds himself in the middle of some sort of roller disco filled with stunning video girls he is desperate to make sure they notice him. So he starts to strip off to reveal his tight body but he finds he does so to a general sense of apathy. What more can he do to get their attention?
Some will tell you that this video is a commentary on modern materialism and the fascination with the naked human form. Others will claim that it is a great visual demonstration of how the girls literally get under Robbie's skin. Personally I cannot see anything that clever or interesting on a thematic level within this music video. No, instead what it does do well is produce an alternative video that got people wanting to see it. The fact that it was censored for the majority of screenings took away from the point of the whole thing but also generated hype for the song itself. The special effects are reasonably good and do make for an interestingly different video away from all the rump shaking that makes up the vast majority of music videos.
Robbie fans will like it I imagine and it is at least different but it doesn't have a lasting value that goes much beyond helping to promote and sell an old song. Perhaps a bit too driven by controversy over the gore rather than it being a great video but it did what it did at the time regardless.
