Sunshine State (2002)

Trivia

Sunshine State

Edit
The film cast includes two Oscar winners: Mary Steenburgen and Timothy Hutton; and three Oscar nominees: Jane Alexander, John Sayles and Angela Bassett.
The song "Skeeter Pie" in the closing credits was written as a backup if they had been unable to get rights to the Lynyrd Skynyrd song in the trailer park scene.
On shooting location, a road was being blocked and a couple of patrons could not get to a bar across the street until the crew was done shooting that particular scene. While in the middle of filming a scene, one man furious with waiting runs across the scene and moons the camera, eventually succeeding to the bar safely.
The restaurant that Reggie Perry and Desiree Stokes Perry stop at to get directions at is at an actual motel in Yulee, Florida. The beach store that is supposedly across the street is actually several miles away on Ameila Island.
Gordon Clapp and James McDaniel co-starred in several seasons of NYPD Blue (1993), between 1993 and 2001.

John Sayles: almost gets hit by the golf ball in the closing scene.
