The events surrounding Teresa's ATF missions, set in early-1990s Western Montana, strongly reference the real-life sieges of Ruby Ridge, Idaho (1992) and Waco, Texas (1993).
The PK-102 assault rifle's design (based on the real-life AK-102) is changed for this game to resemble a more generic AK-series assault rifle. This was likely done to stay true to the 1980s-setting of certain levels (despite appearing in the Ireland, 2001 levels), because the AK-102 did not exist until the 1990s. The name "PK-102" however, remains unchanged.
