The Dead Zone

FAQ

No one has answered this question yet.

A better question would be what the similarities are. Few things featured in The Dead Zone series have something to do with the book. For example, in the movie:
    • Johnny and Sarah never had a son
    • The sheriff's first name is George and never married Sarah
    • Sarah's husband is named Walter Hazlett
    • Johnny Smith's parents are still alive when he wakes up but his mother dies afterwards of a stroke
    • Johnny dies
    • Johnny tutored after waking up from his coma
    • Johnny's teaching subject was literature
    • Johnny has a very specific vision of Greg Stillson as president actually pushing the button that launches nuclear missiles so he's completely sure that Stillson is responsible
    • Sheriff Bannerman approaches a reluctant Johnny who doesn't want to help at first
    • No mention of Johnny ever playing hockey

    The television series:
    • Gene Purdy, Dana Bright and Bruce are characters made for this show,
    • Johnny's father died when he was a boy and his mother committed suicide while Johnny was in a coma.
    • Some events (like Johnny trying to stop a fire at a school party in Destiny (2002)
    • Johnny had a head injury playing hockey as a boy
    • Johnny only tutored in one episode.
    • Johnny's teaching subject was science.
    • Johnny has a vision of a nuclear war when he touches Greg Stillson but his vision doesn't show Greg causing it so he isn't completely sure, and Johnny never has a vision of Stillson being president. In fact Stillson never becomes president, he only makes it as far as vice president.
    • Johnny approaches a skeptical Sheriff Bannerman who doesn't think Johnny can help
    • Johnny played hockey as a boy
