Chris Mitchum's flogging during the torture sequence ranks 60th in the book "Lash! The Hundred Great Scenes of Men Being Whipped in the Movies."
The scene in which a bare-chested Chris Mitchum is tortured by electric shocks administered through a metal ring clamped around his neck may have been inspired by a similar scene in the 1988 movie, "Braddock: Missing in Action 3," in which a bare-chested Chuck Norris suffers an identical torture.
