Popcurn fun for a date. Should work.

I wish all my dates would end like this!

I mean, the plot is oriented for the upper social classes in México let me tell you. The places where the couple visit are really expensive and exclusive but I guess the director's intention was to display how love can come across all barriers.

Barbara Mori is simply spectacular on her looks; she's extremely sexy, hot and she can also act. The chemistry between her and De la Torre worked perfect for the movie because it looked like both had a great time working together.

I can recommend this movie for a first date; it will do some magic. Otherwise, just watch it when it airs on t.v. it's not worth your money.

"Inspiración" is part of México's new way of making romantic comedies.

Quite a Poor Choice of a Title

# 1 movie for a date

In the end, this movie will leave a smile on your face. "Inspiracion" is a great romantic comedy with good acting, a beautiful lead actress (Barbara Mori has to be the one of the prettiest Latin woman nowadays), and an entertaining -but predictable- plot.

I must say that I'm not the kind of guy that enjoys, cries, or whispers after watching a romantic movie... but I enjoyed this one, and I don't feel guilty.

Have a good time and watch "Inspiración". It's a must see for everyone!!

Nice scenery but...

'Inspiración' isn't. For those who have the patience to sit through this Mexican extended novella, discovering that other countries are capable of producing the kind of summer chick flick messes that Hollywood cranks out ad infinitum will be the surprising reward. Written and directed by Angel Mario Huerta and starring a group of Mexican TV actors, 'Inspiración' has little to recommend it.

A group of Macho guys (supposedly teenagers although all of the actors are obviously aged well beyond that!) with little on their minds except dating, doing the club scene, sporting wagers about girls as though the girls were game-things for goals, spur on the naive Gabriel (Arath de la Torre) to pursue a beauty he merely glimpses and gets a first name Alejandra (Bárbara Mori). Gabriel in 'inspired' to write poetry (not a pastime appropriate to macho men...) in response to Alejandra, has a confrontation with his father that begins with the usual flair of son not living up to father ideals and ends with a complete reversal of tears and forgiveness..., and is rigged into assignation with his 'inspiration'. Each move Gabriel makes to woo Alejandra results in disaster in situations intended to be humorous but that are really just gross or silly.

It is the old, tired story of boy meets girl, boy falls all over himself to impress, girl initially responds but is gradually repulsed by boy's insipid arrogance and behavior, boy looses hold on girl, and eventually boy gets girl. Yes, that is it! The acting is almost as weak as the script and direction and while some of the actors are attractive people, they have no sense of comedy or love chemistry or charisma. The film is overproduced, with more emphasis on décolletage than on character development, and in the end the only saving grace is seeing Monterey, Mexico and surrounding areas to advantage. Definitely a class B movie that probably should not have been exported. 92 long minutes in length and in Spanish with English subtitles. Grady Harp

excellent movie

I disagree completely with all of those people who have given this movie such a poor rating. First of all this is romantic comedy, there fore we know that it must have a good-feeling ending to it. I was really impressed with the acting job that gabriel and alejandra did. The facial expressions and the body language sells every situation that he encounters. You don't doubt for one moment that he is really in love with alejandra, and that he would do anything to get the opportunity to be at her side. The music selection for this movie is absolutely awesome! They have used the music that captures each moment. jumbo, erik rubin, el circo, to the main title song Inspiracion from benny... the music is great!! hands down. the only thing I didn't like is that it was over rather quickly. could have used a little more time and imagination in the ending.

Best part of the movie is the quote at the beginning.... check it out!!!!

Inspires only big yawns, although the performers and the scenery are attractive

Gabriel wants to meet a dream girl, but his friends only set him up with the wrong choices. At a nightclub, for example, Gabriel meets the nonstop talker who wonders about the male anatomy of aliens! Yet, taking a break from her, Gabriel spies the perfect girl, the one who can be his "inspiracion". That would be Alejandra, a most beautiful young lady indeed. They meet a few days later for their first date and continue to see each other for a couple of months. However, Alejandra only wants to be friends, much to Gabriel's dismay. Although his father wishes him to be an engineer, Gabriel is so inspired by Alejandra that he writes songs and poetry in abundance. Will Alejandra see the light? Despite a few cute scenes, such as the one where Gabriel dresses up like a pizza delivery man and steals into Alejandra's house, this film is very disappointing and mindblowingly dull. The writing has a few moments of sparkle, but is mostly stilted and amateurish. The result is a film that could have been improved, perhaps, by careful editing and additional writers, but which in its present state is a big yawn generator. One can not really fault the performers, for they are young and gorgeous, with plenty of star power. If you want to see lush Mexican scenery and beautiful folks, by all means, rent this for an evening or pick it out of the $1.20 bin at Big Lots, which is what I did. Just be advised that you can probably do your tax returns with more overall enjoyment.

Great movie, Excelente Pelicula

I think this is a great movie, I am Mexican, thus i really get the point of the movie, i find that it really represents a Mexican situation of dating, and that kind of things.

Its a great romantic movie, but at the same time its a great comedy, you laugh all the time, i love Arath De la Torre's actuation, i found it really original and very comic In a simple way. Rodrigo Oviedo's actuation, as Gabriel friend, is also great.. its the first movie I see both of them and like the just natural touch they have.

I really recommend this movie. You will find a different romance / comedy movie, In which you will also get different kind of messages not just the love story but family relations.

Bárbara Mori's Motion Picture Debut.

Bárbara Mori stars in her motion picture debut as Alejandra. Alejandra is the object of desire of Gabriel (Arath de la Torre), whom he sees by chance at a nightclub while on a blind date his friend set up for him. Gabriel knows nothing about Alejandra except for her name, which he asked her before she made a hasty exit.

Afterwards, Gabriel is consumed by her and can not stop thinking of her. He writes some poetry or verses to a song he is trying to write about her, which is why I guess this movie is called Inspiración (or Inspiration in English). Eventually, Gabriel runs into Alejandra again and this time, he follows her to her home and actually meets her. Soon they are dating but Gabriel wants more of the relationship than Alejandra, and it ends before it really gets started. The rest of the movie is spent with Gabriel chasing Alejandra around trying to win her over.

This movie, in reality, is a romance, or as I have heard it put here, something like a Mexican soap opera (I have never seen one so I can not say for myself). It tries to be a comedy as much as a romantic story but falls hard in that category. I laughed out loud once. Thankfully, it did not rely on the comedy to keep the viewer interested.

Truthfully, I watched this movie only because Bárbara Mori is in it. I may as well be as smitten as Gabriel was but I have only seen her in Maxim magazine and wanted to see her act, which she does quite well. Hopefully, we will see more of Bárbara in the coming years as she has the beauty and the talent to become successful.

Arath de la Torre was a decent actor, but his attempts a comedy were extremely forced, such as in Who's Your Daddy. It was a little over the top and the whole story was missing something I can not quite put my finger on. Worth a rental if you do not mind subtitles. 6/10

The worst kind of comedy

This movie is done by people who actually have more experience in soap operas from televisa, the leading TV conglomerate in Mexico.

I had the misfortune to watch this move by force, as it was played in a bus trip I took.

The story is simplistic and cliché, you can read the synopsis and what you read is what you get, if you have some degree of intelligence you will know the whole story from beginning to end after the first 10 minutes.

Even if you do like soap operas, you should still avoid this movie at all costs, a message has to be sent to producers in Mexico that we don't like this garbage to be made no more.

Good Movie!!!!

I found this movie totally excellent, because is hard like a country like Mexico to have a good movie, i had to admit the performances are not the best, they are some scenes that it might be cut off, but still we all get the message and it make good. The first time i sod it was so incredible shock cause i like it, and i think i a lot of people did, not only because it had Barbara, because it was nice to see a romantic comedy from Mexico. And i have to say before I end my review that even do i like it, i wasn't blind to see the mistakes on the movie like several bad actors, several situations that wasn't good and everything, I considerate myself a person who never watch this kinds of movies, but there I am, totally like it. Anybody can make a good movie no matter where are they from... Good Job Mexico!!!!

Awful. Just awful

In order to get the girl, the guy threatens to kill himself because he couldn't take no for an answer. Lame.

No, the movie isn't spoiled. It was already spoiled upon release.

A mix between American Pie and a mexican teen soap opera

I confess that I saw this movie searching for something of what the mexican Cinema has offered lately: Amores Perros(My favorite movie), Sexo, Pudor y Lagrimas, etc. I can't deny I laughed a little bit, but this movie is a big disappointment. Very predictable, forced humor. If you like mexican soap operas, you will enjoy this one.

A good Movie.

I have read many comments about this one, and i agree a little maybe the acting inst that good, and the lead actors are the ones that attract people to watch this movie, Barbara is one of the hottests women on earth. But if you see this is like a independent Mexican movie, and there are totally pointless movies that have better critics than this one like lost in translation.

Inspiracion could be better i cant deny that, but what it shows makes the point, if you are Latin you can get the jokes, and i know you don't have to be intelligent to catch this one, but you have to be it to catch any romantic movie?

I had a good time watching this movie, this a good Mexican alternative and attempt a great movie. With a good message if you get it. i loved it for that. Give it a shoot, don't expect an Oscar , Mexican movies are growing

summary

This was a comedy with melodrama acting, it made sense that it was weird, odd and original. No it wasn't the best movie i've seen but it's a great movie. When I see a foreign movie I don't identify the Place by the characters. Just like "Y Tu Mama Tambien" Mexicans don't usually jerk off in pools and have sex with their best friends. To me this movie was a sample of some kids being kids, immature at times yet at the same time in the middle of being adults and trying to share their new experiences with their old friends. When the main character tried to share his poems with his buddies, you can relate to that and at the same time you know that the guy that made fun of him wasn't going to be his long time friend, it has happened to all of us. Case in point,it's a comedy don't take it so seriously and its a movie, lighten up.
