Shawn Ashmore had to attend military school for 3 months, also taking voice lessons to be able to project as a cadet major.
In the movie, Kelly Collins is 13 years old, Jennifer Stone is 16 years old, and Brad Rigby is also 16 years old. In reality, Hilary Duff (Kelly) was 15 years old, Christy Carlson Romano (Jennifer) was 18 years old, and Shawn Ashmore (Brad) was 23 years old at the time of filming.
This is Hilary Duff's second acting work with Disney Channel. The first was Lizzie McGuire (2001).
This is Christy Carlson Romano's second work with Disney Channel. The first was Even Stevens (2000) and the third was Kim Possible (2002).
This was the very first Disney Channel Original Movie to air on The Wonderful World of Disney on ABC in the United States and CBC in Canada. The second DCOM to air on ABC and CBC was Camp Rock (2008).
