    Poor.

Virtua fighter 4 exists because this one was a success. But after playing VF3 you will be asking yourself : "How the hell did this become a success?"

There are a good number of characters , but you wont really be too concerned which one of them you will fight as because they are all so ugly looking and uninspired. There are a good number of tunes to listen to while you do battle but you wont really be too concerned which one you listen to because they all sound like they were made on a cheap keyboard. By someone who cant play a keyboard. The whole thing just feels lazy and rushed.

The backdrops you get to fight against are nice , but thats not enough to make up for a game this poor.

    A revolutionary, inspiring fighting game

Back in 1996, when Virtua Fighter 3 was released, the gaming world was all gawking at it; its like had never been seen before. The graphics were so revolutionary that the game was an instant smash hit, easily knocking Virtua Fighter 2 aside. This game follows in that game's footsteps, with 12 fighters competing in the mysterious World Fighting Tournament. 10 we all know, 2 characters added to the midst - Aoi and Taka-Arashi (the latter of which remains the only character dropped between titles, because of difficulties in programming).

The game fluidity and responsiveness is as excellent as ever, with the one-time addition of the 'Dodge' button a most wonderful tool with which to enhance your combos and fighting strategy. The graphics are wonderful, as said, though admittedly the Dreamcast port of this game suffered a somewhat 'mild' graphical conversion thanks to a rushed deadline. This shouldn't affect, though, that the characters look more stunning than ever and move in accordance. As usual, you must undertake a particular character in order to get anywhere with him or her, and as such this is as bonding a game as the first two.

The terrains are splendid one-time features; no longer specific fighting rings, the arenas range from Jeffry's island in the Australian bay to unfinished buildings to subway platforms. As such, the fights feel more like movie scenes than ever. Whichever character you stick to - be it Akira, Aoi or my favourite Jeffry - this game is sure to absorb you. (And the compilation movie you're rewarded with upon completing it is a welcome bonus). Highly recommended.
