    Paint and bulbs...set to music

This is just one of many strange films from the DVD collection "Unseen Cinema: Early American Avant-Garde Film 1894-1941" and it's from Disc 3. "1941" is an odd art film by Francis Lee and it's meant to be an artsy visual reaction to the bombing of Pearl Harbor--though if you watch the film you may have a VERY hard time seeing this (unless drugs are involved)! It consists of lots of paints being splashed together and intermixing and light bulbs being smashed--all set to music by Stravinsky. Pretty weird....and it definitely defies my ability to give it a numerical rating.

By the way, although it's called "1941" and supposedly came out in 1941 just AFTER the attack, this would mean that the film was very hastily put together (in only a few weeks), came out in 1942 or the film maker was in on it and knew the attack was coming (I am kidding on this final one). I was just wondering.
