I was really disappointed with this movie. I usually really like mary-kate and ashley movies. They're not always very beliveable and they can be a little cheesy at times but they're always really enjoyable and a lot of fun. It wasn't so much the writing that bugged me, though the story did seem to go by without a lot of explaing or detail. It was the filming. This movie had to have the worst filming I've EVER seen. The shots were so weird sometimes and there was A LOT of close ups. One of the things that bugged me was that half of the film felt like you were watching a home movie that was taped by a five year old. Sometimes it looks like a movie and others it looks like it was filmed on a home video camera and the shots aren't very steady. I also thought that the way they ended it was weird.

In my opinion this film is nothing more than a promotion for the new resort "Atlantis" in the Bahamas. I thought the film "Winning London" demonstrated some good acting skills and was considerably better than "Our Lips are Sealed". This film however was done very poorly. The movie has several abrupt editing cuts. The movie also has several black-and-white insert shots and well as slow motion shots. Both of these techniques were used way to much. There is also a lot of holes in the plot. For example there is a character in the movie that is very snobby and seems to have it in for the characters Alex (Ashley)and Madison(Mary-Kate). The last half of the movie makes no mention of this character at all. Overall this was a very poorly made movie and I dont recommend it at all. If your looking to see an Olsen Twin movie I recommend Winning London and/or Our Lips are Sealed.

This movie isn't as bad as some people have been saying, I mean at least it had a plot. Ya, some of it was pretty hokey, but it was a still a good film. It was designed for younger kids so I would have to say that tweens (or Mary-Kate and Ashley fans) probably loved it. They could do without the boy crazy part. Not every girl acts quite as loony. But then again, I'd rather watch that then a bunch of teens smoking and doing drugs (though that can get interesting).
While Mary Kate and Ashley and the rest of the cast did fairly well the movie was brought down by the horrible writing. You can only say, 'Hurry up' and 'He's over there' so many times before people begin to wish their ears would just fall off.

As a fan of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen since the age of 6, I knew I had to see this movie sometime soon. I watched it, applauding Mary-Kate and Ashley's maturity yet disappointed by the plot. Yes, Mary-Kate and Ashley are pretty and perky young girls who have captured the hearts of fans over the years, but as actresses, they still have room to grow. The plot of Holiday in the Sun is cute, but it follows the same route Passport to Paris, Our Lips Are Sealed, and Winning London took: they go to a some foreign country, catch up with (and kiss) two cute boys, shop a bit, and solve some mystery. The plot was cute in Passport to Paris, but now that Mary-Kate and Ashley have grown older, the plot must eventually change.

This film is terrible. The whole movie is basically the girls lying on a beach wearing skimpy little bikinis while getting chatted up by boys.It would help if the movie was even slightly realistic, but its not. The twins don't act anything like real teenagers, they seem to be in love with themselves and think anything they do is adorable.
It starts off with them going to the bahamas (when they wanted to go Hawaii *gasp* OMG poor them!) in their fathers private jet and his limo. They then go to the poshest hotel in the bahamas and then spend the whole time kissing boys, shopping, wearing tiny outfits, swimming with dolphins, jet-skiing and drinking smoothies.
A very light plot about some antique theft or something is worked in there too but because the girls are always right and act like they are the top investigators on the island it gets irritating.
The most enjoyable part of the movie is when they steal a boat and even that is hopeless. They just happen to find the antiques at the very moment the police arrive and THEY ARE ALWAYS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING!!! They must be bloody phsycic or something.
And if you think the girls are annoying you should see the rest of the cast. The twins mum and some little girl esspecially. The whole film sucks and i reccomend that stay well away from this movie.

You know, I used to think that the Olsen movies were kinda cute. They weren't masterpieces by any means but they were fun for kids. But it seems to me that since the girls have gotten older, say since they've turned about 15, they have really been dissappointing! It all started with that horrible new t.v. show of theirs. All it is is a silly little what boy do you like and which outfit is cuter, ditzy show. Then they turned this movie, and every one since, into a "Hey, look how cute and grown up we are now" kind of movie. This whole movie is just shots of the girls trying to show how pretty they've gotten. They have went from being successful children with a head on their shoulders to a couple of bimbos. I only hope it's just a stage.

i'm a fan of the olsen twins, and i'll admit their movies aren't always too great, but this is definitely one of their better ones and i really enjoyed it.But don't expect it to be different to the olsens other movies, because its cute guys, new location etc.Worth seeing if you're a fan.***
Flipping through the channels a couple months ago, I noticed Holiday in The Sun, the newest Olsen Twins movie. Having not seen one since they were much younger, I was a bit curious. What was curiosity soon turned into utter fascination- at how this movie was ever made.
Sure, younger viewers will eat this up, but even a pre-teen should realize what a pitiful movie this is. The twins, in fact, are the best actors featured, which isn't saying much at all. Cliched to the max, the plot mundane and utterly implausible, I was left stunned, and even amused. The camera jerks away from whoever is talking, as I guess the director needed something to keep people awake while watching this train wreck. At times the film switches to black and white, which is supposed to achieve a certain artistic effect, I suppose. Unfortunately, all they've done is switch on "black and white"; these people need to watch "The Man Who Wasn't There" to appreciate what art can go into b & w.

Holiday in the Sun, was probably the best movie I've seen of the Mary-kate and Ashley movies. I watched their newer movies before, and then watched Holiday in the Sun, they act so different. They do seem a little too involved with themselves, but I still think they come out cute. The point of the movie? Might of been showing off how pretty they've gotten. But being a Mary-Kate and Ashley fan, I love seeing them in movies. Maybe if the movie they make, have better plots, and better actors acting with them, their movies would be amazing! Sadly, Holiday in the Sun is a little annoying to watch too many times, if you first watch it, it is quite good. How they solved the antique mystery was pretty... unrealistic and a little impossible. How did they do it so quickly? And why so far into the movie a mystery suddenly comes up?
1/10 (It's pity we can't give zero)
I try all time listen all movies I rent/buy, But this mov this thing is so boring that in each minute I want stop it. Hopefully I'm a very courageous guy and so I watch this "thing" up to end.
It's one of more horrible things I see until now. Ufff ! We can resume this thing like that: We are rich, we are cute. We don't need any intelligence cause people love us and all what we do. We love capitalist world and life is a big smile.
This thing is like their life I'm sure. And it's must be so tough to have this kind of life. This thing is another proof you don't need any intelligence to be rich. Just be cute and lucky and the World is your.
I'm sorry to say that, but after to watch this "thing" I feel vomit

This movie was so great. I can't find words that explains how really good it was. You have to see it to understand it. It is without hesitation one of the best movies they have ever made. The environment is beautiful and with two cute teens it becomes totally fantastic. When you have seen the movie you can't resist feeling glad. As always the "Olsens" acts very well and do their job successfully. They have really succeeded with this movie and if you don't think so you have to hate "the twins". If you are a Olsen- fan you ought to agree with me, isn't that true? It's worth watching! So if you haven't seen it then it's really time do that immediately!

Once again Mary-kate and Ashley Olsen make a pretty good movie but make their characters flawless. I found this movie only entertaining by the way they lived their lifestyles in the Atlantis hotel.
But by the time it was near the ending when a problem finally shows up (really dumb problem if you ask me) the flow of the movie changes and makes it unbearable to watch.
If you are probably 11 and under you would probably adore this movie. Since you may or may not know how real 15 year olds act when they go on vacation. (Really who goes off with their friends on a family trip? why would it be even called a family trip when its not spending time with family?)

As a film, Holiday in the Sun was not very good. There were holes in the plot (where was Brianna Wallace in the second half of the movie?!) and the character developments were pretty awful. But, I love the Olsen twins and the extremely attractive guys they manage to dig up out of Hollywood, so I would watch this movie multiple times. If you're a fan of Mary-Kate and Ashley, you'd probably like this movie. If you're looking for a decent film with substance, search elsewhere.
This Olsen Twin Movie was totally pointless. There is not even a story to tell in this bad acted movie. The only thing the director is doing is trying to model guys and make them look good on camera. It is getting so irritating of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen to play every role together. It got old 10 years ago. They are terrible actresses and it seems like all of their movies are all the same. This movie had no good story line and no interesting characters. It was a complete bomb and I cant believe the Olsen twins are making millions making this cheesy, pointless junk. This is honestly the worst TV movie of all time along and running closely behind are all the other lame TV movies that the Olsen's have starred in.

I am a fan of Mary-Kate and Ashley's recent projects such as "So Little Time" and "Winning London" because they appeal more to me because of my age (18). Every new movie they put out seems to get better and better. This movie however broke the streak I thought they were on. I thought this movie had several unnecessary plots and characters (such as the annoying little sister). Several events were over exaggerated and just dumb. It was kind of hard to tell which way the movie was heading. Even my 12 year old cousin (going on 13) thought it was silly. However, we did enjoy the movie. The scenary of the Bahamas was excellent and the music featured was even better! As usual Mary-Kate and Ashley's fashion was awesome. I recommend that you rent the movie and then decide whether you wish to purchase it to add to your video or DVD collection!
i have to start off by saying that this is one of my favorite Mary Kate and Ashley movies, (Winning London has to be at the top). its not a original plot (I mean who doesn't want to go on a fabulous vacation an meet two very hot guys and become hero's?) but its fun an entertaining and kind of like a feel good movie. The acting wasn't as BAD as a lot of people make it out to be, their teenagers their not Julia Roberts for gods sake, i mean its not supposed to be a big Oscar worthy movie and if you go in to it with that attitude you are going to be highly disappointed because it isn't,it is a fun an boppie an makes you want to go out and have a fun time, I love Mary Kate and Ashley an i always will like their movies no matter how shallow and corny their movies are they are entertaining and they always make me feel like no matter where i go there is a chance that i was run it to a hot guy and we will hit it off... whats the problem with that? All in all i give this movie a 7/10 and i do recommend it to anybody who just wants to have fun its a total girl movie and best watched when you are surrounded with a bunch of girlfriends and a large tub of ice cream and just have a ball. Although the Olsen twins are their generally adorable selves in "Holiday in the Sun," the movie was a bit of a disappointment. The other comments have some truth in them. . .it does seem very much like an advertisement for the Atlantis Resort. Let's see, what else. . .the "Cyrano de Bergerac" romantic plot was done better in "Whatever it Takes," and came off rather awkwardly here. As for the editing and home video-style shots, that's something of a Mary-Kate & Ashley trademark (see "So Little Time"). What bothered me most is that there wasn't an ongoing sense of tension or conflict present in some of their other films; this one is a lot of playing around, with a bit about antiquities smuggling thrown in at the end. So, if you're going to bash the twins, don't judge by this one alone; at least see some other ones, like "Our Lips are Sealed" and especially "Winning London" first.
I gave this movie a 10/10, but not because it was in any way, shape or form a good movie - it was just HILARIOUS - It made me laugh the whole time, and I totally recommend it to everybody to see - it was so badly done ha ha bad camera angles (and I don't care if they was meant to be bad or not - they were still just bad), the acting was terrible ha ha and the script was even worse - cheesy one-liners? CHEESY, but hilarious, and there was absolutely NO PLOT to this movie whatsoever! I had no idea what was going on the whole time, but if you're ever bored out of your mind, and want a good laugh, I would definitely suggest you go rent it.

I love Mary-Kate and Ashley, and I think all of their movies are great for kids and adults. Having said that, this one wasn't really one of my favorites. I thought it moved kind of slowly, and I didn't really like any of the other characters very much. I think that if you took out all of the scenes where the girls are running around, or shopping, or swimming, or sight seeing, while the same songs played in the background that the movie would have been about 20 minutes long. But the movie was still enjoyable to watch, and I would still recommend it to anyone who loves the Olsen's!
I remember as a kid waiting all year for a new Mary-Kate and Ashley movie to come out, anticipating where in the world they would go on their next adventure. Back then Mary-Kate and Ashley were like God. I remember watching their movies in awe, wishing my life was exactly like theirs! Last night I watched Holiday in the Sun for the first time in about 5 years, and I can still quote almost every line word for word! Sure the plot is ridiculously unrealistic and you can predict the ending after watching it for 10 minutes, but if you are watching a MK and A movie, you aren't watching it for the gripping plot and surprising twists. So bottom line, no this movie will never win an Oscar or be remembered as one of the best movies of it's time. But if you are a true fan, that actually might be true. It's corny, it's cheesy, it's not going to provoke your thoughts, but if you want a classic Mary-Kate and Ashley movie that you can't walk away from without feeling good, Holiday in the Sun is the perfect choice!

1st watched 7/8/2023 - (Dir- Steve Purcell):
Extremely lame Mary Kate & Ashley vehicle that is really just a lot of bad acting, writing, and music videos. The only thing that is positive is some of the music done by Steve Porcaro(formerly of Toto). Typical story-line where the twins are looking forward to their vacation with friends in Hawaii, but their parents hijack them into a trip to the Bahamas instead(boohoo). The parents still give them their own room, and too much leeway; in my opinion; so it's kind of like their alone anyway. They get into a series of issues with boys they meet on the island, and are given slaps on the wrists by their parents only to get into more serious trouble each time. The boys aren't really bad just brainless or doing things unknowingly against the law and on the last incident the girls land in jail. Megan Fox, in her first movie role, plays a terribly antagonistic character and is pretty bad. Not a good start for her in what turns out to be a pretty full career. Strange behind-the-scenes footage ends the film as we are told there will be another of these random adventures coming soon....blah! Not needed, in my opinion.
