I bought this video a few years ago for $45.00 because I was a fan of heavyweight boxer Duane Bobick. Bobick had fought in South Africa and was a very popular figure there. I guess he capitalized on that popularity by acting in BIllyBoy. The film however is far from Championship material, nor is it contender material either. It's pure junk. The texture of the film is horrible; grainy, too bright at times. The sound was messed-up in certain parts. Bobick's acting is wooded and stiff, but he's a fighter not an actor! The fight scenes were very good, but the story-line was demented. The boxing champion is a handsome, muscular psycho with a mother complex. the mother is a freak. She gets "sexually" excited sitting at ringside watching the champ knockout his opponents. Weird story. Lousey acting. Great boxing scenes. Worthless. I gave the video to a couple which are my friends, they agreed the movie stunk and they sold it at a garage sale for one dollar.

The worst boxing movie ever made. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. Weird story. Heavyweight contender Duane Bobick boxed a few fights in South Africa with mixed results. He knocked out 250 pound Mike Schutte, but was knocked out himself by Kallie Knoetzee. Guess the loss didn't hurt his popularity. Bobick looked the part of a fighter with a battered face and squashed nose. He plays the part of Billy Boy. He wins 38 straight knockouts and gets to meet the champ who is a real sadistic freak. The champ's mother and him have a "strange" relationship and she seems to be sexually excited as she sits at ringside watching his fights. There's a brutal rape in the film of Bobick's on-screen girl-friend. The movie is grainy, the sound is unclear at times, and the acting is at the grade school level. Billy Boy is a Silly Boy.

I paid a whopping $63.00 bucks to buy this video. Did so because I lived in South Africa years ago and thought it'd be interesting to see this South African filmed movie. Also, I am a boxing fan and recall Duane Bobick. What a big disappointment; I'm talking major! Duane Bobick just can't act. The poor guy is stiff, machine-like, almost a walking-talking robot. You can see how his face was battered by over 40 professional fights. The rest of the cast is just as bad. The story-line is a bizarre mix of romance, incest, sadism, and boxing. If you blink your eyes you can see a host of well-known boxers from South Africa in uncredited roles. Billyboy is not worth a 3 dollar rental, let alone the money I paid for it. I gave my copy away to a friend, who in turn sold it at a garage sale for a buck!
