Could've been a little bit more on the target...

Interesting series about the Triple Sixers, the biker gang that wants to settle into Ontario. Without being suggested that it's based on the recent expansion of the real Hell's Angels into that province, it's pretty obvious that the series based itself on that fact.

But Le Dernier chapitre was missing some artifice. Seems to drag sometimes. OK were happy to see that those bikers have a social life beside their "other" activities. But at some point, we've had it with Mr. Durelle or Mr. Desbiens having a friendly talk by the pool. Give us some action!

The acting was good. Michael Ironside shines as Bob Durelle. Frank Schorpion too as Zip O'Connors. And Michel Forget too as the witty cop (probably based on real life ex-cop Guy Ouellette who's still collecting info about the Hell's Angels even though he's retire). My preferate of the whole gang: Roots Racine played nicely by Québec-singer Dan Bigras.

I salute the decision of the CBC to put a lot of money into the marketing of that series. I mean previews were shown at cineplex around the country. Also nice to see a series running on the main English network and at the sime time on the main French network in Canada.

I gave the series a 7 out of 10. Seen at home in Toronto.

Great second series

Finally got it,.. both TV series is released through the network as triple DVD boxes if you can't find them anywhere else. It shall be interesting to see if this one gets released in Sweden as a movie, just like the first series was... This series is highly recommended,.. and very realistic. One can only wonder what motorcycle club's that are made portraits of here *laugh*. Ironside does it again, very realistic as a biker and not like the performance he made in "BOLT" a k a "REBEL RUN" where both him and Richard Grieco were not that convincing. Roy Dupuis is really great this time around as well. Don't sit around and wait for the re-run,.. go get it instead!

CBC's attempts for rating with something other than hockey

Other than Hockey Night in Canada there is not much to watch on CBC; most of there Politically correct shows have a boring theme like (a) someone writing a book,(b) some cultural crap or (c) a overwhelmingly left wing news show that riddles the viewer with guilt and blame. I took a chance and watched CBC's attempt at the Soparno's. Quite, watchable, I was shocked, Michael Ironside in it, and that got me watching. I found part 2 lacked the steam of part one, but over all its just as good. The ending, is awkward like they did not know how to tie it up. I would rent it, or tape it from TV if they play it again. 6/10 Ironside is one fine actor.

CBC's version of The Soprano's

I guess CBC is trying not to lose anymore viewers to HBO, and came up with this. Most of the budget is spent on the first episode, and the show hurts because of this. Watchable, decent budget, good acting, which is a big surprise for the CBC. Michael Ironside is a strong actor and it was nice to have a realistic watchable show on TV. I still can not believe I watch a CBC show, other than Hockey. Maybe, I will watch PBS next. Worth viewing. 6/10

It's always summer in Montreal

I remember when I lived in Canada that the Summer lasted from late April (if we were lucky) until late October with April and October being quite chilly., But in The Last Chapter, it is always sunny and warm. Even Karen's pregnancy seems to start and continue during the brief five months of summer. Do bikers put away their bikes for the winter? Do their illegal operations, feuds and killings wait until the snow melts? No one even wore a wool cap, parka or coat in the entire series. That is my only criticism as the show was a treat for fans who couldn't get enough of 'Sons of Anarchy', or the Australian 'Brothers in Arms'. In particular, the lighting in the last two episodes of Season Two was brilliant, reminiscent of the Godfather, in that by lighting from one side only, every pock mark, scar wrinkle and bump was shown in sharp relief, giving the characters a watery aging look and no longer the bright young things they were at the beginning. The events were taking their toll and it showed.
