When Sawaan Kumar was to start Hawas, he had gone to meet a song writer to discuss the price with him to write the songs for Hawas. The song writer demanded a big price, so Sawaan Kumar went away and told the writer ' teri galiyoon mein rakhenge na kadam..... ' these words just came to his mind and he just said it, and when Sawaan Kumar reached ahead he realised these words which he had said to the writer, it can turn into a good song, as he his a poet, he worked on it and it turned to into a good song. From that day Sawaan Kumar turned to song writer and wrote all the songs of all the films he made. So this is how Sawaan akumar turned to song writing. Hawas was his debut film as lyricst.

Saawan Kumar after working with music composers like Madan Mohan and R.D.Burman, with Hawas, he started to work with Usha Khanna and worked with her in most of every film he made. Saawan Kumar sometimes also had worked with other composers like Ravindra Jain, Ved Pal, Mahesh-Kishore, Dilip-Samir Sen and Adesh Srivastava. But most of Saawan Kumar's films, the music has been composed by Usha Khanna.

Contrary to the common belief that Rajnigandha was Vidya Sinha's debut, she played a cameo in Hawas before rajnigandha.
