Originally filmed in early 1979 as an hour-long comedy pilot, but in 1980 CBS requested the pilot be cut to a half-hour. Producers chose to cut a segment with Imogene Coca and Hermione Baddeley playing sisters, in which Coca's character planned to kill the other. Executive Producer Lila Garrett described it as "sort of an 'Arsenic and Old Lace' segment."
