Durval Discos (2002)

Trivia

Durval Discos

Edit
The store Durval Discos was based on Edgar Discos, a record store in São Paulo that director Anna Muylaert used to hang to buy records in her teenage years. Like Durval, Edgar didn't accept that CDs were bigger than LPs in the 1990's. The store was inside his mother's house.
Durval's hairstyle was inspired by the Brazilian singer Benito di Paula.
The soundtrack includes some of the greatest Brazilian singers/composers, such as Moraes Moreira, Tim Maia, Sá, Rodrigo and Guarabyra, Gilberto Gil, Jorge Benjor, Elis Regina, Gal Costa and Luiz Melodia.
The character Fat Marley, played by André Abujamra (who was also responsible for the original score), was used after the movie as a musical pseudonym for the actor. He released an experimental drum n' bass album called New Old World/Future Son in 2002 under the name Fat Marley.
The soundtrack is filled with Brazilian popular music classics.
