"Elsker dig for evigt" literally means "Love you forever".
Zach Braff set up a remake of the film at Paramount Pictures as director with Sean Penn. But due to scheduling and budget issues, the project didn't happen. Braff had paid annually to keep the option on remaking the film.

The film won both the Bodil (the major Danish film awards given by the Danish Film Critics Association since 1948) and Robert awards (a Danish film prize awarded each year by the Danish Film Academy since 1984) for Best Danish Film in 2003.
The soundtrack for the film was recorded by Indonesian-French singer Anggun. The album's lead single, "Open Your Heart", charted at number 51 on the Norwegian Singles Chart and was nominated for Best Song at the 2003 Robert Awards.
