The Midnight Terror

The movie resolves around the descent into hell of an unemployed but ambitious young man who happens to be at wrong place at the wrong time. After he helped a dangerous mob leader during a fight, the latter wants to return the favor and hires him as his personal assistant and bodyguard. The young man accepts without realizing what his decision will imply. This noir gem directed by Samuel Khachikian demonstrates how money and love can destroy lives, with the help of a terrific contrasting cinematography, alternating between claustrophobic atmospheres in dark basements and frenetic chase scenes in the wilderness. It is definitely a must see for any film noir aficionado.
