5 Dark Souls, Part II: Roots of Evil (1998)

Trivia

5 Dark Souls, Part II: Roots of Evil

Edit
Actor Christopher D. Harder (The Girl in the Woods (2021)) had moved to Portland, OR to pursue a career in TV and on stage following his lead role in 5 Dark Souls (1996). When director Jason Paul Collum heard Harder was returning to their hometown for a visit he quickly added the actor to a scene in this sequel for a cameo.
Writer/Director Jason Paul Collum was contacted by the TV news show Inside Edition in the days following the Columbine High School massacre in April 1999. They wanted to discuss the effect of teen/high school-themed violence in horror films, particularly the plots of 5 Dark Souls (1996) and 5 Dark Souls, Part II (1998), which had been released just months earlier. Collum declined the interview, fearing the hostile environment at the time towards horror films.
Most of the school scenes were filmed at the University of Wisconsin - Parkside. The crew did not have permission to film on the location, so they "stole shots" over weekends and evenings when there were few people on campus.
