The film was first offered to Amisha Patel who was a superstar at the time, but the actress refuse to do the film because she felt there is no meaning to act with flop actors in her beginning career. And then replaced by newcomer Tulip Joshi . Upset with Amisha's statement, actor Uday chopra told in an interview that he will never work with this actress and not even Yash Raj Banner will sign her.
In the beginning of the song "Hum Dono Jaisa," you see different winners from different years starting at 1988. The names came from the following Yashraj films: Rohit(Rishi Kapoor) & Chandini('Sridevi') from the movie Chandni (1989) Viren('Anil Kapoor') & Pooja('Sridevi') from the movie Lamhe (1991) Rahul(Shah Rukh Khan) & Kiran(Juhi Chawla) from the movie Darr (1993) Raj(Shah Rukh Khan) & Simran (Kajol) from the movie Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) Rahul(Shah Rukh Khan) & Nisha (Karisma Kapoor) from the movie Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) (Raj) Aryan(Shah Rukh Khan) & Megha(Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) from the movie Mohabbatein (2000) also for future references: Aditya('Vivek Oberoi') & Suhani(Rani Mukerji) from the movie Saathiya (2002) Raj(Hrithik Roshan) & Tina(Kareena Kapoor) from the movie Mujhse Dosti Karoge! (2002).
However, although the Yash Raj Banner refused to sign Ameesha Patel, she still acted in Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic (2008) which was a Yash Raj Film.
The mandolin Uday Chopra uses is the same one Shah Rukh Khan uses in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995).
At one point, Yash Chopra wanted to launch Tanisha with the film.
