Camp Drag Queens Don't Know How to Edit...

This film has an interesting concept that is dragged out (pun intended) way too long. As is typical of drag-queen films, everything and the kitchen sink is thrown in, probably because the filmmakers felt compelled to include moments for all of their friends and their fabulous outfits.

The core story is fun, though, and Omar Brancato is truly tasty in his role as our hero's love intrerest. (If he's single, I'll take him right now.) He has several great moments of gazing up into the camera with his wonderful puppy dog eyes that will make you fall in love with him instantly. Too bad that the rest of the film just drags on and on and on. Our hero is also a bit bland, but I think that was intended. If only there'd been more nudity on display (i.e., Omar), this could have been a great movie. As it is, it should really only work for guys who are totally tapped into the WeHo scene.

Sure to be an audience favorite....and it was....

Campy, fun, lighthearted, satirical, loving, heartwarming, hilarious, forget you troubles entertainment!! This short film accomplishes what it was set out to do...entertain. Really enjoyed Taco Chick & Salsa Girl, Anthony, Professor Peckerhead, Superfag, The Bionic Old Lady, Super Dyke and the engaging original soundtrack. The special effects (tongue in cheek) were hilarious as Superfag and Anthony flew through the air!! The vibrant colors utilized in the film along with the cartoon captions were a great touch. Sure to be an audience favorite. Looks like it has been accepted to almost every Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, both in the US and abroad, and won the HBO Audience Award twice along with many other awards and recognitions.

    Hilarious, well-produced Indie spoof that's an audience-pleaser.

SUPERFAG had its North Carolina premiere at the 2002 North Carolina Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, screening during a collection of men's comedy shorts, and quickly became an audience favorite. At 30 minutes, this indie spoof about a gay superhero doesn't overstay its welcome. If you're a fan of Scary Movie or Naked Gun, you're golden. If neither of these titles is your cup of tea, then you've been forewarned.

SUPERFAG is the type of film that includes the kitchen sink. (Look closely, I'm sure one's in there.) It boasts more in-jokes and pop culture references than your average festival comedy fodder, and that's a good thing, because low-budget filmmaking is sometimes tedious to watch, and credit must be given to director Kurt Koehler for attempting to truly entertain us, especially since the film's title alone would have probably generated as much interest. It doesn't hurt that Koehler cast himself in the title role (after all, he knows the difference between parodying the material and not simply mocking it) and that his well-defined body looks as if he went to the gym between every take.

Funny, irreverent and highly entertaining, SUPERFAG is one to watch with your friends.

High Camp Hilarity - A Gay Superhero is just what we need.

Superfag is a hilariously fun filled film shot with color and style. It reminds me of the old Sid and Marty Croft shows of the 70's. This time, however, the hero is gay and proud. It's just what this world needs! Two thumbs up. I'd give it three, but I only have two. Run, hop or fly, but do whatever you have to, to see this film.

    Superfag is hot and hilarious!

Superfag is hot and hilarious! Director/Writer Kurt Koehler has as firm a grasp on the film's genre as anyone could hope to behold. Juggling the campy antics, flashy costumes, and an onslaught of innuendos (ohhhh, the innuendos) with a genuine feel for the world of the film, Koehler and the phenomenal cast have you actually caring about the characters and what happens to them, aside from all the fast-paced one-liners. Mel Brooks and John Waters would be proud. Now let's just hope they release an uncensored version!
