In the original series, Prince Adams' pet green tiger, Cringer, could talk. The producers of this remake decided keeping that would make the series seem for too young for the audience they were intended to appeal to. Furthermore, they were confident they could make him expressive enough through his face and movements to compensate.
Unlike his previous cartoon incarnations, Skeletor has fangs. Skeletor's fang was written as a nod to the Frank Langella incarnation in the 1987 film "Masters of the Universe". Langella's Skeletor also had fangs.
Many plot points from the original He-Man series have been continued here, including the fact that Man-at-Arms is Teela's adoptive father and that her unknown birth mother is none other than the Sorceress.
Just as the original cartoon series did, this series serves as a launching board for the release of new He-Man action figures by Mattel.
Kathleen Barr's name was misspelled, just as Linda Gary's name was misspelled in the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (1983) series. Both actresses voiced the character Evil-Lyn in their respective series.
