This movie was directed by Phil Joanou, who Spielberg took under his wing after seeing this and subsequently hired to direct Three O'Clock High.
In a way, this short film is a primer for Three O'Clock High. It's got the same nerdy, awkward lead, an unrequited relationship with a girl "friend," a series of mishaps all built around timing (a dance that the leach character wants to take his crush to), and friends looking to help him along the way.
Great writing, professional cast (although the lead, while funny, seems to always be playing catch up with everyone else), and impeccable production. Highly recommended.
