The film was delayed for 5 years.
To cash in on Madhuri's new stardom , the producer kept Dharmendra,Jeetendra and Jaya Pradha off the cover of the audio cassette and CDs. Only a picture of Madhuri was shown with her song Uska Naam Hain Piya promoted on all channels.
Vinod Khanna was signed for the film but later replaced by Jeetendra.
Amitabh Bachchan movie Do Anjaane was first titled Paapi Devtaa.
Dharmendra Hema Malini and Mithun Chakraborthy were signed for Dulal Guha's Paapi Devta in 1977. The film got shelved after being shot for a few months.
