WARNING! This movie may not be suitable for poultry. =0) LOL I watched this movie at the 2004 Nashville Film Festival.
It was cute. Coley McCabe did a great job in her debut film! What really stood out to me was the music in the film. The songs were written AND performed by the lead actors Mark and Coley.
Quite impressive! Two thumbs up. Check it out.

This is meant to be a romantic comedy of sorts, leaving aside the fact that in real life, kidnapping is no laughing matter. Although it is entirely different, it has a broadly similar theme to the 1986 Bette Midler film "Ruthless People" in which a woman is kidnapped and held to ransom only for the kidnappers to realise her husband doesn't want her back.
Here, there is only the one kidnapper, and ruthless is not in his lexicon. He is three months behind with his rent and...desperate people do desperate things.
Leaving that aside, there isn't much of a plot but the film is rescued from total mediocrity by a half-decent soundtrack.

Alabama Love Story had just the right mix of romance, comedy and drama. All the actors did a great job of contributing to the success of the movie - especially in the two leading roles. It's very refreshing to see new faces on the screen.
The music added just the right touch and gave a glimpse of the characters emotions and thoughts. It was a nice surprise to find that the stars both wrote and performed the songs and shows they have a lot of talent besides acting.
I bought the CD several months ago and have watched it several times already. I can't really compare this to any other movies I have seen as it has several unique elements. However it gives me the same warm, happy feeling I get after watching While You Were Sleeping, Mrs. Winterbourne and The Truth About Cats and Dogs.

It's a very warm and fun movie. There's no buildings blowing up or AK-47s ripping through flesh, but there is a little blood.from a rose bush cut, and an adulterous affair that spices up the plot. As far as the acting goes, Coley and Mark do well, Mark better than Coley because of experience I'm sure. Although her first jab at acting is rather refreshing. It's not Oscar award winning, but it is for the most part truthful which is what film acting should be about even in semi-slap-stick comedy. Both (Mark & Coley) have some fantastic moments together as well as with other characters. I say similar tributes to the Tyler/Hess pair. Hess is obvious a stage actor that he uses.sometimes in excess.to fuel his character and does quite well. Tyler is, of course, beautiful and very intriguing.great sexy appeal and comedic timing. Both are a real plus.even though they are unknown.my praises to the casting of the pair. Stewart and Warner are the perfect racially mixed high society gals of the ball and lead the way to a great many laughs. Over all a good film.not great, just good! P.F.

This was a cute movie. I found it very entertaining and was really impressed with the acting. The lead characters were believable in their roles. I haven't said that about very many movies lately. I think the new title fits the movie better than the original title. It was, after all, a 'love' story. The songs, written and sung, by the two main characters fit the plot very well. They added to the story by telling the inner thoughts of those characters as they moved through the details of their actions. It was very refreshing to watch a movie that was not clouded over with the gratuitous sex and violence that seems to be so prevalent these days. We bought the DVD.
