Robbi, Tobbi und das Fliewatüüt (1972)

Trivia

Robbi, Tobbi und das Fliewatüüt

Edit
Contrary to popular belief, this is not a production of the Augsburger Puppenkiste, the studio that made popular shows such as Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivführer (1977). That misconception is caused by the fact that this show uses puppets, which is a trademark of the Augsburger Puppenkiste.
The first German television production to use blue screen technology. It was used to combine the puppetry with live-action footage (most prominently for the aerial shots of the flight sequences), which was considered revolutionary at the time.
This show was filmed on magnetic video tape instead of film stock, which marked one of the earliest uses of that technology for a German television production.
The word "Fliewatüüt" is a combination of three words, with each one having a connection to the vehicle's abilities. "Flie" is from the word "fliegen" (flying); "wa" is from the word "Wasser" (water); "tüüt", while not being an actual word, describes the sound a car horn is making (driving).
ROB 344-66 / IIIa, called Robbi, is in the third grade of the robot school.
