The film was started in 1975. The producer was not happy with director Ashok Roy's choice of Zarina Wahab. He wanted her replaced.After 2 weeks of shooting he finally agreed that Zarina was a hard working and talented girl.
Vinod Khanna and Shashi Kapoor had a very bad falling out regarding the film . Shashi Kapoor had overloaded himself signing a new movie every day. This caused several delays with Ek Aur Ek Gyrah. But Shashi openly blamed Vinod Khanna for the delays. Shashi stated that Vinod was too busy in Pune at Rajneesh's ashram. Vinod took charge of the matter and told the media that Shashi was never a super star and had reached a saturation point. When he realized this he decided to chase money and sign dozens of films. Vinod Khanna stated that the producer of Ek Aur Ek Gyrah had to take Shashi's dates 5 times but they never could match his. This was all due to the extra films he signed. Vinod also alleged that Shashi acted in his own home production Junoon. That also must have caused his other film's schedules to go all over the place. Vinod would add that since Shashi was a senior star he was use to everyone on the set address him with "ji's".Where as Vinod did not care to do that. Vinod stated he expected a newcomer to act like this. Not a senior actor like Shashi.
