Tahir Hussein wanted a newcomer for the film. It was Ramesh Sippy who influenced him to sign Kiran Juneja for the film.
Aamir Khan wanted his dad to give him a break in the film. But Tahir did not have faith in Aamir and decided to cast Rishi Kapoor.
When the film was announced in 1986, Rajendra Kumar, Tanuja and Parijat were in the film's cast. They were later replaced by Amrish Puri, Reema Lagoo and Farha Naaz.
The only Film of Producer Tahir Khan which had music by Composers Laxmikant-Pyarelal.
Major portions of this film were shot in Kashmir.
