Sanjeev Kumar and Reena Roy in Ladies Tailor (1981)

Trivia

Ladies Tailor

Edit
The film was shot mid way, then scrapped. After seeing the rushes, the producer felt Sanjeev Kumar looked foolish as a ladies tailor. The film was then shelved. But after the success of Pati Patni Aur Woh, the producers decided to revive the film. This was due to the thought that Sanjeev Kumar in comedy would be accepted by the masses.
Concept of the film inspired two film Kuthe Kuthe Shodhu Mi Tila 1990 in Marathi and Ladies Tailor 2006 in Hindi.
Ab Ye Jana Ki Ise Kahte Hain Aana Dil Ka In the film, this song was followed by a few lines of the same composition sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy. Her lines were sung without any musical instruments and were not included in the audio release. According to her, Mohammed Rafi had had to do multiple takes of the song since he was forgetting his lines in the last antara. She marvelled that despite his seniority he had apologised to her, a junior artist, for delaying her recording.
This film was loosely adapted from the Shammi Kapoor film "Professor" (1962). The film "Dil Tera Aashiq" (1981) was also adapted from "Professor". "Professor" itself was based on the Hollywood film "Charley's Aunt" (1941) which in turn was based on the very successful play by the same name, written by Brandon Thomas.
