Unofficial remake of Tamil film Prema Khaidi 1990. The film also had Harish in the lead. Unfortunatley, Prem Khaidi was remade in Hindi as Prem Qaidi. This caused Mera Dil Tere Liye to flop very badly. The audience had already seen the same story line. Mamta Kulkarni lost a lot of film offers due to this.
Raman Kapoor was offered the film, but his dates were still booked with Dev Anand's Sau Crore.
