Early in the movie, when Mamdouh and Sohair go out to a nightclub, they do a bit of ballroom dancing together, and then there's a very silly scene of a duet of women dressed in quasi-European folkloric costumes bouncing vigorously around on the dance floor and spinning. It gives an idea of what sort of entertainment Egyptian nightclubs had other than the raqs sharqi.
Although this movie is a musical with Tahia Carioca playing the role of a dancer named Rawheya, she actually dances for only about 7 seconds. The movie was made later in Carioca's career, after she had started to gain weight and had shifted her focus for her roles from dancing to acting.
The only scene in which Carioca dances at all occurs about 29 minutes into the story. It shows about 10 seconds of her doing a closing spin in her stage act, and then it's over.
Later, about an hour into the movie, there is a very brief 10-second segment showing people doing European-style ballroom dancing at Sohair's birthday party.
About 66 minutes into the movie is the engagement party for Mamdouh and Laila. Mamdouh sings a 5-minute song. During the vocals, the camera stays focused on him. During the instrumental interludes, it pulls away to show the hired dancer performing. This dancer was Atoutta.
