Brittany Murphy and Ron Livingston in Little Black Book (2004)

Trivia

Little Black Book

Edit
Feature film debuts of Dave Annable, Yvette Nicole Brown, and singer Gavin Rossdale.
Katie Murphy, Brittany Murphy's real-life cousin, plays the young version of Stacy.
When Stacy and Joyce are seated and discussing going to the hockey game (the Red Devils) after Lulu's entrance at the restaurant, there is a faint piano playing in the background of the opening musical bars of Carly Simon's "Nobody Does it Better". The next scene with Stacy singing on her apartment floor, she adds the vocals to "Nobody Does it Better" as Derek arrives home from his trip.
Interestingly, Holly Hunter had an earlier role in Broadcast News (1987) where, in stark contrast to her role here in pushing ambush journalism, her character was the moral beacon and emphasized where the ethical lines in journalism should be drawn.
When Stacy (Brittany Murphy) confronts Barb (Holly Hunter) on-camera backstage, the monitor above their heads appears to flip the image, but it is not a monitor. It is the back of the projection screen from the main televised image that is the centerpiece of the "Kippie Kann Show" stage's back wall.

Cameo

Carly Simon: As herself, walking into the meeting room looking for Jane at the movie's end. When Stacy regains consciousness after fainting, Simon says, "She's coming around again," which is a reference to Simon's hit single "Coming Around Again" from 1986.
