    I really like it

I like this Japanese cartoon just because the story is so funny. The Inspector Zenigata is always chasing Lupin a Master Thief who plans to steal big ticket items for his girl Mine Fujiko. The problem is he always runs into trouble along the way and seems to be able to take on whole armies with his friends Jigen and Goemon. Maybe not for everyone but I really like it.

    Pleasant surprise.

"Rupan Sansei - Towairaito Jemini no himitsu" is the eighth Japanese television special of our beloved Lupin III, released in 1996, directed by Gisaburô Sugii.

In this special, set mostly in Morocco, Lupin III is searching for the missing half of a diamond, which, once reunited with the other, will bring to light the treasure of the "Gelthi" tribe, a native minority persecuted by the rival tribe and the police.

Lupin, together with his trusty companions, embarks on an adventure in search of the lost treasure, including chases, love stories, shootouts, plot twists and the inevitable inspector Zenigata.

All seasoned with an atmosphere from: "One Thousand and One Nights".

In conclusion, this special is quite enjoyable. The drawings are well done and inspired, the setting is alternative and pleasant. The plot is linear, but there is no shortage of plot twists. There is the right balance between serious and funny moments, even if sometimes the film is a bit slow, the fights are not always spectacular and the soundtrack is not very inspired.

It must also be said that the Lupin TV specials are more than 20 and cover a period of time that goes from 1989 to 2019 (for now), so it is easy to often see different directors directing these films and they do not always manage to make the protagonist express his best. But I must say that this one succeeds quite well and I find it well balanced.

An excellent film for teenagers and also for adults, nice and intriguing. Enjoy the show.

    Pretty good Lupin film

Out of Lupin films this is one of the ones that I would recommend. An adventure in Morocco where the environment is the one thing that strikes the most along with Lala beautiful eyes, as they focused on them where Lupin falls in love. There's quite a bit of fan service too.

As for the characters, Lupin friends always appear when in need, but most of the story in focused between Lupin and Lala.

Now for the characters limit: Out of Lupin films this is one of the ones that I would recommend. The Secret of Twilight Gemini is a nice Lupin special.

Lupin sets off for Morocco, looking for a legendary treasure. His only clue is an interesting jewel that an old man gave him. It's a nice different location for Lupin, with the desert and that hot exotic feel.

One interesting thing about this movie is that Jigen has a much smaller role than usual, generally being in a different place than Lupin. On one hand their classic dynamic together is missed, but it is a change of pace. Plus, this way, Lupin can focus on the ladies...

Fujiko rules in this. Throughout the entire feature she is seducing Lupin, and us viewers. Then there's Lara, the damsel of this particular tale, and she's quite likable. This one has more nudity than any other Lupin anime, which is a fun distinction to have.

There's a very entertaining effeminate ninja guy who's the best villain in this, and naturally he has some great fighting with Goemon, as well as some fun scenes with Fujiko. Inspector Zenigata of course is also on a warpath here, in fine form.

Pretty much, this is a smooth ride with Lupin. The plot is average and there are some slow spots, but all in all this movie is a real pleasure. Enjoy.

Like Twilight Says, The Real Treasure is Friendship

Lupin is given half of a diamond known as the "Twilight". He is told that the diamond is in fact a key to an even larger treasure located in Morocco. Meanwhile, Inspector Zenigata has a new commissioner, willing to give him all the resources he needs to catch Lupin. The plot thickens as it appears that multiple parties are interested in getting the treasure.

I will be comparing this film to other entries in the Lupin franchise. This film is on the cheaper end when it comes to animation. This film is very light on series regulars like Jigen, Goemon and even Zenigata doesn't have much to do. We need more Jigen, he is the coolest guy. Fujiko has never looked better, but she is little more than eye candy in the grand scheme.

The setting doesn't give too much to work with. It is just a whole lot of desert sand. There are long stretches of time where it is just Lupin riding a camel through the vast sea of sand.

The villains aren't all that interesting, they kind of wear this KKK uniform and are involved in a territorial battle with the "Geltics".

But the movie has an undeniable charm, carried mainly by its thieving protagonist. The action is exciting, and the jokes are really good. Particularly one joke at the end that makes the whole thing worth it.

The film is much like the Twilight Diamond, pretty to look at, but not a complete gem.

    • Trivia
This movie by and far features the most fan service of any Lupin movie, with several scenes featuring Fujiko Mine topless, and a scene of a nude Lara bathing. Also, it's notable for being the only film with a Lupin/Fujiko sex scene that doesn't get interrupted on-camera. FUNimation created an edited version of the film because of these concerns, although the full uncut version was also made available. When FUNimation later re-released Twilight Gemini as part of the "First Haul" box set, they accidentally issued it with the edited version. An uncut copy replacement was made available to those who had purchased the edited version, and the mistake was corrected in later releases.

Inspector Zenigata: Well, now I gotcha, Lupin! You're under arrest!

Arsène Lupin III: Pops, you might want to focus more on not getting shot!

    • Crazy credits
The closing credits are a sequence of Lorre belly-dancing, interspersed with a montage of Lupin's gang and Zenigata leaving Morocco.
    • Alternate versions
Here is a list of the changes that occurred in the edited version:
      • 1. Jigen's "hell" changed to "heck."
      • 2. Conversation in train car between ICPO woman and Lupin cut almost completely.
      • (Lupin barely sits down with the woman and Zenigata immediately barges in on him)
      • 3. Bedroom scene with Fujiko, Lupin, and Sadachiyo greatly abbreviated.
      • 4. Leering shots on Fujiko's body and shots of ogling crowd omitted.
      • 5. Fujiko showing off her cleavage a bit in the police station omitted.
      • 6. Camera pan down Fujiko's buttocks in the police station replaced with a reversed
      • animation of her moving in to kiss Lupin. No dialog was removed or changed.
      • 7. Scene inside the abandoned building re-edited to omit the shot of Lupin pulling the
      • Twilight from Fujiko's top. No dialog was removed.
      • 8. When Sadachiyo puts his sword to Lara's neck, the dripping blood is slightly reduced.
      • 9. Sequence where "Galoux" shoots the 3 Geltic prisoners cut, along with a prisoner's line,
      • "Galoux, you can't!"
      • 10. The scene where Sadachiyo "tortures" Fujiko is mostly cut.
      • 11. Lupin's "Where am I? Did I die? Is this heaven? Or Hell?" becomes "Where am I? Did I
      • die? Am I dead? Oh, no...."
      • 12. Shots of Lara removing her jacket and bandanna cut.
      • 13. Pink digital 2-piece string bikini added to Lara's figure during her bathing sequence.

      • of digital editing).
      • 15. Scene of Fujiko tied to the woodwork in the Gelt separatists' hideout abbreviated. Some
