The toys for this anime series were featured in Mattel's successful "Shogun Warriors" toy collection in America. Raideen was renamed "Raydeen".
San Francisco rock band The Tubes has a song called "God-Bird Change". A choreographed version of the song was performed on the 1977 Now tour in which Raideen makes an onstage appearance.
In 1975, a diecast toy version of Raideen, was released in Japan by the toy company Popy. It was the first transforming robot toy, creating a new trend in the toy market.
This was the first mecha anime to be directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, who went on to create the "Gundam" franchise.
