Jackass is making a comeback to the small screen.
Paramount+ has ordered a new series following the success of the movie Jackass Forever.
“Based off the success of ‘Jackass Forever,’ we’re working with the creators to continue the partnership with a new series, bringing even more ridiculous antics straight to Paramount+,” Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish said Tuesday, according to Variety.
Jackass returned to the big screen earlier this year with Jackass Forever, the fourth movie in the big-screen franchise.
The movie grossed 80 million from a 10 million budget and found itself on Paramount+ shortly after release.
The franchise kicked off on MTV as a TV series, and now, it looks like Paramount+ thinks a new series will be the best foot forward for the franchise.
The flick included classic cast members such as Johnny Knoxville, Steve-o, Chris Pontius, Dave England, Wee Man, Danger Ehren, and Preston Lacy.

More than 20 years ago, MTV debuted a little show late at night featuring a collection of gnarly dudes doing stupid stunts and pranking one another. That series, "Jackass," went on to be a global phenomenon, so far spawning four theatrically released films, the spin-off films of "Bad Grandpa," a handful of straight-to-video sequels, several spin-off shows including "Wildboyz," "Viva la Bam," and "Homewrecker," and more. The antics of a group of skateboarders and professional knuckleheads became an indelible part of pop culture. The road has been hard, and it has been long, but the cast members of "Jackass" have plenty of...

"Jackass Forever" just dropped last Friday across theaters, and the 20-plus year old cringe comedy brand laughed all the way to the bank. The fifth installment in the "Jackass" feature film franchise (its first sequel in 11 years) raked in a $23.5 million opening over its first weekend, rocketing past Lionsgate's "Moonfall" at $9.9 million over February 4-6. It's almost as if there is an evergreen, universal appeal to seeing grown men leap into cacti patches and slap each other in the nuts. Here at /Film, there's nothing but love for the goofy band of merrymakers; Josh Spiegel hails it as "enormously,...

In her efforts to repel British efforts to conquer France during the Hundred Years' War, Joan of Arc frequently credited a series of divine voices, angels and saints alike, as her guiding counsel. Doc Brown's idea for the time-travel-enabling flux capacitor came from a bathroom tumble and a concussion. The most profound ideas can come from the wildest places.

Being able to boast that a franchise has lasted over two decades is impressive, but considering the world of "Jackass" requires putting the body, mind, arrest record, and stomach on the line at every turn, it's a damn miracle that everyone's favorite comedy stuntmen are still up to their usual shenanigans after all these years. The MTV series debuted in 2000 for three seasons but turned into an entertainment franchise including spin-offs "Wildboyz," "Viva La Bam," "Homewrecker," "Bam's Unholy Union," "Dr. Steve-o," "Bam's World Domination," "Bam's Bad Ass Game Show," a video game, TV specials (including Shark Week) five feature films, and the...

Steve-o, the former Jackass and Wildboyz star who has become a known anti-SeaWorld activist, was arrested in California late Sunday night after attempting a dangerous, attention-grabbing stunt, the Los Angeles Times reports. (He's still got it!) Scads of firefighters and police officers flocked to and closed down a busy street in West Hollywood when they caught wind of what they thought was a civilian's suicide attempt. It wasn't anything that grave, though: Steve-o had climbed atop a crane with an orca — a stunt he teased the day before on social media — and wanted to make a statement. "This is Shammy," he said on Instagram, holding a pic of an inflatable killer-whale toy, on Saturday. "We're going to do a big dangerous stunt in Los Angeles tomorrow that will probably get me in a lot of trouble." He was right. Upon coming down, Steve-o was reportedly sent quickly on...

Steve-o has credited his Jackass co-stars with saving his life by forcing him to seek treatment after years of drug and alcohol abuse. The stuntman explained that he made the decision to enter rehab only after Johnny Knoxville organised an intervention in 2008. "Knoxville came over to my apartment with the director of Jackass [Jeff Tremaine], the director of photography, the executive producer [and] the sound guy. It was like the whole crew of Jackass came over to stop me from hurting myself after helping me hurt myself for ten years, which is pretty amazing," he quipped to Dr Drew. Steve-o admitted that he initially resisted their requests that he accept medical help, but eventually realised that his life had spiraled out of control. The Wildboyz star explained: (more)...

In a message posted on the website of Dickhouse Entertainment (the producers of the wildly popular "Jackass" series and shows like "Rob & Big" and "Wildboyz"), Dunn was remembered by Johnny Knoxville, director Jeff Tremaine and "the entire 'Jackass' family" as a "brother," though the pain of his death was understandably evident.

The first cut of Terrence Malick’s existential war film The Thin Red Line supposedly had a running time of five hours. To cut it down to a more “manageable” three hours, he had to chop out a huge swath of film — including practically the entire performance of nominal lead Adrien Brody. So don’t think of Jackass 3.5 as a shameless recycling of deleted scenes. Think of it as Jackass 3: The Adrien Brody Edition. “When we made Jackass 3D, we shot too much,” explains Dave England in the new preview clip. Wee-Man adds, “Now we have all this extra great footage,...

Johnny Knoxville and co. deliver 'the spectacle of comedy pared down to its barest essence,' one critic says.
By Eric Ditzian
A scene from "Jackass 3D"
Photo: Paramount Pictures
The first two "Jackass" flicks shotgunned their way to the top of the box office. "Jackass 3D" will probably be no different. The only question should be if the third of Johnny Knoxville's stunt-heavy movies can top the opening of his second.
"Jackass Number Two" bowed to $29 million on over 3,000 screens in 2006. "Jackass 3D," by contrast, is set to screen in about 30 more theaters, and comes with an inflated ticket price, thanks to its third dimension. Some box-office experts are predicting the new movie will gross upwards of $30 million, which would make it the first film to cross that plateau since "The Expendables" in mid-August. Other B.O. authorities expect "Jackass" to land in the mid-to-high $20 million range.

As much as I like to pretend I'm a pretentious, high-minded supporter of filmmaking as art, I really, really love 'Jackass.' For better or worse, I'm fairly certain I'm the only member of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association who put both 'Synecdoche, New York' and 'Jackass Number Two' on his Top Ten of the last decade. But while you - much less they - may or may not agree that Johnny Knoxville's breakthrough TV show and subsequent film series is as hilarious, fun, and enjoyable as I do, 'Jackass 3D' is a sort of antidote to this year's cinematic doldrums, a gag-inducing celebration of the stupidity that's ubiquitous in the majority of 2010's offerings, albeit gloriously worn on its sleeve rather than submerged in the pretense of high-concept entertainment, much less capital-a art.

This past weekend I caught part of Steve-o: Demise and Rise on MTV, which documents Steve-o's downward spiral into drug and alcohol addiction and subsequent intervention from the Jackass crew. It was sad to see one of the greatest actors of our time squandering all his skateboarding and rapping talent, but the whole time I kept thinking, "Please Steve-o, keep it together long enough to make Jackass Number Three... or at least another season of Wildboyz". Fortunately he will live to huff nitrous oxide another day, but the truth is, a lot of his best buds have already started to move on without him. Believe it or not, Steve-o's Wildboyz partner Chris Pontius has just landed a pretty sweet gig that could possibly be his ticket to bigger and better things. Sofia Coppola, writer/director/producer of “Lost in Translation” and “Marie Antoinette,” is deep in the prep stages for her next effort, entitled “Somewhere.” Now here’s where things get weird: joining the already confirmed Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning in the cast is none other than “Jackass” and “Wildboyz” alum Chris Pontius.
Whaaa…? The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Pontius will join the cast of Coppola’s “Somewhere” as the best friend of Stephen Dorff’s protagonist. Dorff plays a popular Hollywood actor who is forced to re-examine his public persona when his daughter (Elle Fanning) shows up for a surprise visit. Coppola’s “Lost in Translation” partner Focus Features will release the film, which is currently planned for a 2010 release.
