I loved this show. I could collect "treasures" (read "useless crap") until I die, and I would still look like nothing compared to the people that end up on this show. I can point to these people and my husband can't complain about me. I didn't used to like it very much. I found Niecy and Michael way too stereotypical for their market segments, as we say in silicon valley. But they, and all the cast, grew on me.
I watched them pry away, sometimes with a verbal crowbar, the quadrillions of treasures from neurotic collectors. They're all expert wheedlers, negotiators, and compromisers. Now I like them. Don't want to live with them, but I like them. Sometimes I admire them. They're willing to go into almost any neighborhood in Los Angeles to do what they have to do - and they confront interesting sanitation issues without completely freaking out.
I like Mark Brunetz best when it comes to designs, and Alan when it comes to yard sales, and the familiar Linda. Every once in a while, I notice Linda got a little snippy at the client - but then, having dealt with the homes of difficult relatives and being an obsessive organizer myself, I'm right there with her and have personally thought of physical violence as a possible option. The show does follow the same format every time, but predictability makes me happy.
The closest competitor, Clean Sweep, offers designs that look pretty cheesy compared to what Mark Brunetz is able to do, probably because Clean Sweep is building them on site (ah, the luxury/downfall of having a carpenter). Mark must spend more time with the clients than we see on screen, because he somehow takes amazingly disparate tastes and puts together rooms that look good, often even to me, and make people happy. Mark's designs also look practical from a usage point of view.
I sometimes have a little trouble with watching people on Clean House give up their "treasures" (yes, "useless crap," but to the owners, each and every piece of useless crap seems precious) to raise money - except that if something didn't come out of the house, there would be no room to move. And having been through losses myself, Niecy's sensitive support of the widow who didn't want to let go of physical reminders of her husband was effective.
We get Clean House on the Style Network, which regrettably must show the same damn commercials throughout. It's enough to drive you insane, and if anything would make me stop watching, that would do it. But it's unlikely, because this show gives me solid points for being such a good housekeeper and non-obsessive collector.
I have relatives and friends, though. If only they lived in the Los Angeles area.
I have to add, though, that I dislike the 2006 season version. Too much (OK, endless) product placement, too much canned behavior by Niecy. I don't like the way Trish treats clients; she seems abrasive and direct to the point of being rude with vulnerable collectors and buyers. And I don't like the endless supply of donations that they seem to have to work with on the one hand, with no money for stressed Mark on the other hand. I do like the out takes, but I wouldn't invite this new cast to work with my relatives and friends.

Obviously, you've watched more then one episode to know what the show is like, so if you don't like it, why didn't you spend your time on something else?
Yes, while it is true that they pretty much do the same for each episode, what are they supposed to do different? Get all the new furniture in and THEN sell the old stuff? But that's the only thing I agree with, because I think the comments you made about the crew were absolutely horrendous. They all do great jobs with people that need help, and they are themselves while doing the work, which makes it fun and up-beat, and doesn't make Clean House a Clean Drag.
I think in life you either are the horrible Judge Lady, or are a friend of hers.
Both of you really do need some guidance and eye-openers.
Clean House, keep up the WONDERFUL work you do-I love you Allen Lee Haff!!!!!

CLEAN HOUSE is one hour of search, toss, redesign, and reward. It's like a million bucks to these folks once they've allowed their perceived beloved things to be removed and in return gain much needed customized living space. If you're a clutter person, even though you're overwhelmed, it isn't enough to be the reason to eliminate all the excess. That's where CLEAN HOUSE comes in.
CLEAN HOUSE allows us to watch those who've bravely chosen to allow Niecy, Mark, Linda & Alan, the great CLEAN HOUSE team, to come in and expose their clutter. Even more than that the clutter mentality of those who accumulate STUFF is revealed. Every CLEAN HOUSE show is a powerful study to those who clutter in HOW TO LET GO! When it's all said and done a beautiful restructuring of those clutter areas makes it all worthwhile.

I stumbled upon this show one Sunday while flipping through the channels.
I love the host and her crew. She's real and I applaud her for having one of the few reality-style shows that actually has sold meaning to it and really helps people.
Clean House gives families the incentive to make lifestyle changes. What I like a lot about the show is the fact that the families themselves work towards the end results. It's not like they sit back and have the crew clean and make over their homes.
Also, the families really are reaching out for help. You see how much a home can affect each member in that family and the variety of it does so.
I cried watching "Messiest Home" with the family from Illinois. You see people with real issues working towards solving those problems.
People tend to misunderstand the host and forget that she's a comedian first. She is straight up and will tell you like it is, and the folks she deals with on her show, need to hear it like it is.
I am not a fan of reality shows but I love Clean House.
Niecy gurl, keep doing your thang.

I have noticed when watching Clean House this season, that Linda and Allan are missing...What happened...where are they...are they coming back to the show? I really enjoy watching the show, and the combination of Niecy, Linda, Allan, and Mark seems to work very well. I still watch, but it feels like something is missing. They were a great team! Best show was the woman that hated everything, the wall color("puke") and she wanted her love seat back...I don't know why, she didn't seem that lovable! This episode made the whole series more real...just goes to show that you can't please all of the people all of the time! All of the programs start out showing these rooms that are a total mess. Are these messes real or is it set up to look that way? I know that I have always had a "junk" room that looks very much like the rooms that I see on your program, but not the whole house! I love the show, keep up the good work, and bring back Allan and Linda!

Stlye Network needs to be careful because Clean House is a good show.It is so good that I can see the major networks picking it up. Keep this crew happy because they are good and the ratings are high over here on the East coast. Continue to get the audience to understand what is going on in the family. Every loves a story and a happy ending. I cried right along with the team on a few of the episodes. Don't remove any of the staff because it is a lot of hard work and they all need to rotate as not to get tired. I feel sorry for Mark B. he has to work all the time. But he can work magic. I love Trish because she has a cute personality. Keep the jokes coming .They are entertaining. yes,Matt, YOU ARE CUTE! Sincerely, saajp5@gmail.com
I LOVE watching "Clean House." Niecy Nash is not only a delightful host, but there's a doggone psychiatrist in there somewhere! Some of these folks have serious issues behind their "clutter" problem, and her sensitivity is precious. Look at what they get - compared to "Clean Sweep" on TLC, I think Niecy & the team give a LOT more without the obnoxiousness, and the quality is better. They clean, paint, decorate - no slapped together stuff, plus they don't make the homeowners do it all.....and the "gifting" of rooms of furniture - I think this show is a well kept secret. I can't believe after 8 seasons that I just found it.

I love this show! Niecy Nash is hostess with the mostess. The twist in this show is the clutter is sold at a yard sale. The show matches up to $1000.00 to clean, organize, and decorate of what is sold. There is prying and crying. Niecy's sassy style is hilarious. Watch this show
Go Niecy GO!!!! Clean House is a fabulous show. A lot of you know you are living in a mess and need clean house to come in but they only go to LA.. THat is the downfall except for the countrys messiest house in NJ I have gotten some great organizational ideas from Trish, Niecey is very down to earth and has probably saved many marriages and families. that isn't even in her job description . the humor is fabulous.. and burkett is a great decorator. i HAVE JUST DONE OVER MY GIRLS BEDROOM BLACK AN D WHITE AND USED A LOT OF THE IDEAS BURKETT PRESENTED. AND THE GO TO GUY .. HE IS SOOOOOOO FUNNY AND GREAT WITH THE TOOLS.. THANKS CLEAN HOUSE I WATCH YOU LIKE 5 TIMES A DAY.. I noticed a lot of y'all seem to have a problem with this show. Some want the 'old' formula back. Y'all babies or something? Things change, people move on with their careers, or want to do something entirely different.
And if you want different, you can't get much different than Clean House. With a diverse team (I'm currently seeing episodes with Nicey, Trish, Mike & Mark) who are cruel, but kind, and a different family every episode, with unique stories and backgrounds, this is one of my favorite shows.
It's not just about going in and giving people money and going 'Hey, boom, let's clean up your house'. It's about saying, 'You know, there are some problems here you need to address and we'll help you, but we can't do it all for you' Because that's the truth. You can give people money, you can redecorate their homes, but if you don't talk to them, you're not teaching them anything. You have to get in there and be brutally honest with people. Just tonight I watched Clean House Search For The Messiest House In The Country 2 and honestly, the couple were nice enough, but needed some hard truth. At first I thought it was a bit wrong, making fun of these people when they weren't on camera with the team, but honestly, it needed to be said. Who wants to live in a house with rotting food, cat mess in a hallway cupboard that you block with a box to prevent the smell from getting out?
Team, you do a great job. When y'all coming to Australia to clean up?!

This is one of my favorite shows. I'm very surprised at the strong negative comments about it. Maybe the homes of these people are immaculate, but mine isn't, and it's obvious that the homeowners who write in are desperate. They're drowning in a sea of clutter that they don't know how to let go of. I think the final results are amazing, and the designers are very creative. I've learned a lot from Clean House. I know how difficult it is to get rid of something I've had for years, even though I don't like it, and now (after a lot of thought) out it goes with the garbage or into the thrift shop. As to Neicy and her crew, I like their rapport and teasing. Too much drama (and bad taste) on TV is monotonous and depressing. Go Neicy! Let's get rid of the clutter of it all!

I cannot tell you enough what a fantastic show this is! The original cast is FABULOUS!!! Niecy, Allen, Linda, and Michael. Stop screwing with perfection! Trying other people is crazy! Give this show a fair shake and good promotion!!! This was my favorite show until they messed with the formula. I still like it, but it's not the same as the original. Please make us happy and return Michael Moloney to the lineup, because he brings out the magic in Allen Lee Haff, and Niecy Nash. Linda Koopersmith is just a sweetheart as usual. Please BRING BACK THE MAGIC, and ratings will be sure to follow!!! If you love this show as much as I do, please write to the Style Network and make sure the do the right thing!!! Mike:)
Well, instead of having 4 wireless mics for Anna Nichole, we moved up to the panasonic PD-6 mixer which records everything on DVD. Lot of bugs to work out, and I Don't think they ever got the timecodes to stop drifting.
As mean as Allen was (Pee-Wee, you know what I'm talking about Allen) as annoying as Lindas voice is (Linda you know I'm kidding, you are a doll!) and Michael, god the energy! So proud of you making it to Extreme Home Makeover! Niecy Knows she is the star of this show, and the star in my favorite Comedy Central show "Reno 911". I still want to make my collard greens for you!
The show might not spend a million dollars to tear down a house and rebuild it, but the advice we gave was practical for the everyday family. "Woo Woo Woo"

First things first. This kind of reality show depends mostly on the hosts and the people who carry this thing. The hosts of "Clean House" are probably the most annoying people ever to roam through your house. Niecy "oh my gawd" Nash, Michael "fashion police" Moloney, Allen "i'm so funny" Lee Haff and Linda "label-lover" Koopersmith all have their specific duties. Niecy's duty is to confirm the cliché about black women, being very loud and noisy, and having an attitude the size of Oregon. Allen organizes the yard sale, which could have been okay without his constant trying to be witty. The same goes for Michael Moloney, who confirms the cliché of the fashionable stylish gay man, but without being good at it. I'll cut Linda a little slack, cause she does have some good ideas, although i don't see why you should label EVERY single box in your house, which are all see-through..
Next, the show. The process is always the same. The four hosts roam through the house, they occasionally make some witty comments, Michael shows his sense of style by uttering phrases as "that is sooo ten-years-ago", and they 'convince' the people who live there to 'let go' of most of their stuff. Almost always there is some "woman-to-woman" thing between Niecy and the female occupant, or some "boys will be boys" fun between Allen and the male occupant. Next they put up a yard sale, with the recurring joke of Niecy carrying a very small object and then complaining about the hard work. Some more witty comments guarantee a lot of fun. The money that is earned is doubled by the Clean House production team, and it is divided between Michael and Linda to give some rooms a facelift.
Now, those facelifts. I am absolutely stunned by what they do, but not in a good way. Okay, Linda does some great work with her labelgun, but hey, putting the same stuff together in boxes isn't that hard after all. Now it is Michael's job to redecorate, which means to paint, lay tiles, hang curtains, change fabrics etc. But they do it the way théy want to see it, not how the occupants would like to see it. For example, they gave a guy who works at home a very tacky antique desk, complete with marble top, but with nothing on it. Such a desk would have been great in a manager's office of the London Bank, but not in a home office! Looks great, but is as useful as having a mailbox in your bathroom. Another example: the occupants had hung up some temporary curtains over the windows to make the guestroom dark, so people could sleep there. Michael removed these, cause "they were sooo ugly" but he didn't bother to put some new up. Why do you think there were curtains in the first place?? The show is filled with these kinds of stupid redecorations. Another example: a breakfast corner was painted completely white, which means walls, floor, chairs, table, everything white. A breakfast corner usually gets a lot of sun, but with the white everywhere, you probably don't want to go in there without a pair of sunglasses.
This show replaced "Debbie Travis' facelift" on our local network, so I can't help but compare. "Facelift" is all this show is not. Debbie Travis is a real host, an excellent designer and a joy to watch. You can watch the program to get some ideas for your own house, which is not the case for "Clean House" unless you want to learn how to label see-through boxes. In "Facelift" you can see the crew working on the house, the hard time they have, the fun, and the fantastic results. In "Clean House" the only thing of a crew you see is three-second quick succession of video images, followed by Michael and Linda showing their work to Niecy, who utters some appreciative sounds and phrases like: "i've got three words for you: fa-bu-lous!"
"Debbie Travis' Facelift" is a team that redecorates houses for people, "Clean House" is a show which uses people for their own purpose. In the memory of Allen always saying: "the stuff that goes out of your house, should never go back in" I would like to say: "this show has to go out of the air, and never go back in."

I thought I had seen the worst thing possible on television until I tuned into Clean House. The "cast" is a collaboration of the most obnoxious, annoying personalities available on television to date.
The production value of the show is practically non-existant, and I have the feeling that the people involved have no clue about what the show is even SUPPOSED to be, much less what it actually is (which is crap).
I hope that someday this reality television trend will finally end, or at least the market will not allow derivative, copy-cat crap like this to air. I mean, have you seen "Clean Sweep"? Huge differences. Really. I mean, this show cleans houses, and that show cleans... houses. With a yard sale. On both shows. BUT THIS ONE IS ON E!
Most disappointing is the fact that producers seem to be trying to create conflict in a situation that is lacking it, to the point where this becomes obscene to view.
BORING. Seriously. This sucks. The producer is insane.

E! has had a range of "ups" and "downs" in the business. True Hollywood Story is fantastic. But this may be the worst television show to ever be dumped (steaming pile style) on the viewing audience. Dull premise, annoying talent, overly pleased with itself...watching this show is like dating Ed Brinkly - at the end of the date, it just doesn't put out. The executives working on this project should be canned.
Reality TV can be interesting and engaging, but only when the personalities are intriguing and honest. Everything about this show radiates a bunch of idiots sitting around at table planning "the next not-so-original-money-maker".
"Old Yeller" was put down to spare him any further pain. E! should clean its own house and spare US anymore pain.
