Was created as a short teaser for the 26 episode TV series that was broadcast the following year.
First screened theatrically alongside the movie Sakura Wars (2001) , then released as a promotional DVD in an issue of Dengeki Daioh, the monthly comic book anthology which carried the comic strip on which this movie and the subsequent TV series are based.
This mini-movie was included on Volume 6 of the Region 1 Azumanga Daioh DVD series as an extra. Audio tracks for the original Japanese version and an English-dubbed version can be selected.
