While Dirch Passer was extremely active in both movies and theaters (he starred in 48 movies between 1958 and 1965 alone), he was a rare guest in TV drama. "Møde ved midnat" was his only ever appearance in this period.
"Møde ved midnat" by Frank Jæger was the first ever play commissioned exclusively by Danmarks Radio. Before this, only TV adaptations of already established theater plays had been broadcast. It was produced in two versions for New Year's evenings 1957 and 1958 and followed by four other, original New Year's evening shorts: 'X-60 starter' by Finn Methling (1959), 'To i en tråd' by Ernst Bruun Olsen (1960), 'Et brev til en søn' by H.C. Branner (1961) and 'Nytårsspil' by Karl Bjarnhof (1962).
