How do you do a movie about 9/11 when you don’t have the budget, crew, or special effects on hand to actually do that momentous day justice? If you’re Charlie Sheen and National Lampoon’s Cattle Call director Martin Guigui, the answer is simple: Stuff a bunch of actors in an elevator, grab some stock footage and B-roll of Whoopi Goldberg looking nervous, and stage the cinematic disaster flick equivalent of a TV bottle episode.
That appears to be what’s going on in 9/11, a movie we first told you about when Sheen was getting it off the ground last year. “Based on actual events”—No shit!—and co-starring Goldberg, Gina Gershon, and Luis Guzmán, the film looks like an attempt to make the least expensive 9/11 movie possible, boiling down one of the most life-changing events of the 21st century into a series ...

The new trailer for the September 11th film, 9/11, starring Charlie Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg, has surfaced via a Japanese production company. The movie is based on Patrick Carson's stage play, Elevator, and dramatizes actual events adapted from voicemail messages left by victims.
While the narration and text for the new trailer are in Japanese, the clip teases out a plot in which Sheen, a married man on the verge of a divorce, finds himself trapped in an elevator in the World Trade Center's North Tower with four other people.

“How lucky are we to get a Coen brothers film so early in the year?,” fellow writer Brian Roan remarked in naming Hail, Caesar! one of our most-anticipated of the year. “Any fan of cinema should be overjoyed at the sound of the name alone, but more reasons to be excited are not in short supply. The story of a studio fixer in Golden Age Hollywood trying to recover a missing star, it plays into all of the metatextual farce that the Coens love so much. And, in keeping with its story, half of Hollywood is starring in this. The anticipation is high and can only get higher, so thank God we don’t have long to wait.”
The project brings together the star-studded ensemble of Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill, Frances McDormand, Christopher Lambert and Scarlett Johansson. Ahead a release in just about three weeks,...

I can't believe there were a couple production companies out there that actually made an unofficial sequel to Martin Scorsese and Robert DeNiro's classic boxing drama Raging Bull. But they did. It's called Bronx Bull, and today we give you the first trailer for the film. I personally think the movie looks awful. It's got a decent cast of talent, but the script seems pretty terrible.
The film is described as a "combination prequel and sequel that explores 'before the rage' and 'after the rage' of world middleweight boxing champ Jake Lamotta's tumultuous life and times."
The movie was directed by Martin Guigui (National Lampoon's Cattle Call) and it stars William Forsy, Natasha Henstridge, Alicia Witt, Penelope Ann Miller, Joe Mantegna, Ray Wise, Paul Sorvino, and more. There's no release date yet, but I doubt it's going to get a theatrical release. ...

Way back in 2012 we heard about a sequel to the Martin Scorsese boxing drama Raging Bull, but since then, the film hasn't been given permission to associate itself with the iconic film. Instead, it's going by the title The Bronx Bull, with William Forsythe in the lead as Jake Lamotta instead of Robert De Niro. The film is both a sequel and a prequel, following Lamotta in his teenage years and also following some time in his life after his famed boxing career. Unfortuantely, it doesn't look all that great, which isn't surprising coming from Martin Guigui, whose previous work includes National Lampoon's Cattle Call, a real gem. Watch? Here's the trailer for Martin Guigui The Bronx Bull from Exempt Capital Network (via The Film Stage): The Bronx Bull is directed by Martin Guigui, who co-wrote the script with Rustam Branaman. One of the greatest movies ever made is Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull; watching it is an experience everyone should have in their lifetime. So enter Martin Guigui with the nerve to try and taint Raging Bull’s legacy with some strange sequel, prequel, or remake – I can’t tell. His IMDb bio was likely written by himself or a friend and his list of credits include the National Lampoon movie Cattle Call. The Bronx Bull was once titled Raging Bull II; I wish I was making that up.
He somehow managed to line up a pretty good cast including William Forsythe, Joe Mantegna, Paul Sorvino, Penelope Ann Miller, and Natasha Henstridge for this low budget Jake Lamotta story. The Bronx Bull has no release date and this will probably be the last time I mention the movie.
Enjoy the trailer though!

Well, this was bound to happen sooner or later. With production underway on "Raging Bull II," MGM has pulled out the big guns, suing to not only halt the production of the movie, but also be awarded punitive damages “in an amount sufficient to punish the Rb II defendants and to deter those who would commit or knowingly seek to profit from similar actions, now or in the future.” Ouch. But let's rewind on this a bit first. Based on the book of the same name by Jake Lamotta, Chris Anderson and Sharon McGehee, which examines both the early life and the events after those told in the Martin Scorsese picture, the film is being directed by Argentine-born helmer Martin Guigui, whose credits include "National Lampoon's Cattle Call" and most recently, the Dennis Quaid thriller "Beneath the Darkness." Scorsese, he is not. The film has veteran character actor William Forsythe...

Seeking to put a stop to a rehash that would tarnish the reputation of an MGM classic (a right that is the sole province of MGM itself), a lawsuit has been filed to stop production of Raging Bull II, the sequel that is to Martin Scorsese's original what Jake Lamotta's comedy career was to his boxing. The move comes nearly a month after filming already began under director Martin Guigui—hired because of his previous experience with bovines and incredibly low expectations on National Lampoon's Cattle Call—as evidenced by the above promo shot that is from ...

The American Pie boys on growing up and making the third sequel to their smash-hit gross-out comedy
"I don't know that we'll necessarily top the first movie," says Thomas Ian Nicholas, a star of the American Pie teen-film series, which started in 1999 and will next month expand to a fourth instalment, American Pie: Reunion. "But I feel this is the best sequel."
It must be tricky territory for the franchise's five leads; bittersweet. On the one hand, the thirtysomethings clearly delight in one another's company, tirelessly joking and jostling in a London hotel. On the other hand, none would have thought, back when American Pie kickstarted five careers, they'd be 13 years in the same roles: sensitive Jim (Jason Biggs), insensitive Stifler (Seann William Scott), brawny Oz (Chris Klein), brainy Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) and Nicholas's straight man, Kevin. These names, Thomas says, "will forever be stamped on our foreheads."

Yesterday, it was reported that director Martin Guigui had begun casting Raging Bull II. Veteran character actor William Forsythe (Boardwalk Empire) was mentioned as the frontrunner to star in the film. Now, I suppose the first question for any fan of Martin Scorsese’s 1980 biopic about the rise and fall of 1950s boxer Jack Lamotta (played by Robert De Niro) is…why? Following close behind is: Who is Martin Guigui?
Let’s start with the second question. Guigui is the Argentine auteur whose credits include My Ex-Girlfreind’s Wedding Reception and National Lampoon’s Cattle Call, which was most notable...

A Raging Bull sequel getting cast? A Raging Bull sequel? First of all, let me clarify that this isn't an April's Fools joke. At least not on my part. And let me add right away that neither Martin Scorsese nor Robert De Niro — or any of Raging Bull's screenwriters — is involved in this new venture. And that Raging Bull II, based on a book by Chris Anderson, Sharon McGehee, and Jake Lamotta, is supposed to be both a prequel and a sequel to the original tale. According to moviehole.net, several Raging Bull II roles are open for interested actors — in some cases "Star Name Only." The leading role of aging boxer Jake Lamotta, however, has already gone to William Forsythe. Martin Guigui is to direct. The Young Jake Lamotta (14-20 years old) hasn't been cast yet. Forsythe had a supporting role in Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in America...

So far, for all the sequel mania that's swept Hollywood, the films of Martin Scorsese remain untouched. Sure, you could perhaps argue that "Casino" is a follow-up to "Goodfellas," in spirit rather than in content, but we've so far been spared "Cape Fear 2: Max Takes Manhattan," "Kundun 2: The Quickening" or "New York New York: Tokyo Drift," either from the director himself or from lesser helmers, even as we get follow-ups to everything from "Tron" to "Road House."
But it looks as though our unbroken run is over, and someone's had the giant balls to sequelize perhaps Scorsese's greatest movie, no less. Moviehole report that casting is currently underway on "Raging Bull II," a follow-up to the director's biopic of boxer Jake Lamotta. Based on the book of the same name by Lamotta, Chris Anderson and Sharon McGehee, which examines both the early life and the events after those told in the Scorsese picture,...

Man, this week just keeps on getting better. Even though April Fool's Day fell on a Sunday, over the past few days we've still had to wade through an unlikely assortment of news stories that seem way too insane to be true. That being said, this one appears to be legit, so we can now safely proceed with the customary hand wringing and head shaking. According to Moviehole, there is a Raging Bull II in the works. It's being billed as both prequel and a sequel to Martin Scorsese's 1980 film, but as you can probably guess, Scorsese and DeNiro are not involved in any way. Bad idea? Probably. William Forsythe (Once Upon a Time in America) will be stepping into the role of Jake La Motta this time, with director Martin Guigui (Beneath the Darkness, National Lampoon Presents: Cattle Call) behind the camera. Forsythe already inherited a De Niro role once before,...

And we thought a pie was Jason Biggs' most risque sexual partner.
The actor who launched into the national consciousness -- and subconsciousness -- when he mounted a freshly baked apple pastry back in 1999's "American Pie" is now married to fellow actress Jenny Mollen. She is perhaps best known for her role in 2006's National Lampoon's "Cattle Call," and together, the two put their formidable knowledge of unconventional sex escapades to good use during a recent trip to Las Vegas.
Blogging for Playboy, Mollen recounts, in vivid detail, the time she and her husband ordered a couple of prostitutes to their Hotel Room.
After a false start with a girl named Eva and an uncooperative Atm (not to mention some close calls with friends, bruised egos and a failed attempt at sexual bravery), Mollen and Biggs finally scored a friendly sex worker on their second night in the hotel.
