Summaries

  • Poor Mr. Peck is continually kept in hot water by his hired girl, Bridget. She fogs him in a cloud of dust when she sweeps, drives him from room to room when he is vainly trying to read his paper, and caps the climax by angrily dousing a bucket of water over his head when he finally stubbornly refuses to move at her command. Summoning his wife, Peck angrily declares he is going out to look for another girl and leaves. After several vain attempts to secure the right sort, he finally engages the cook of a friend who is about to depart for Europe. The new girl now makes him lug her grip through the streets, creates a scene in a restaurant where he takes her for lunch and at last he reaches home with her, bedraggled and worn out, only to have her claim the departing Bridget as a long-lost sister. Bridget immediately warns her sister of what an awful boss Peck is, and the two girls leave with upturned noses while poor Peck collapses in the arms of his spouse.—Moving Picture World synopsis
