Marvin's wife on the show was always called "Dear" and her face was never shown. Only on the very last episode at the end of the show, did she show her face to the camera for everyone to see.
Shock Theatre had a half hour show that followed right after that was called The Shocktail Party. Sometimes referred to as "Aftershock".
Writer Donald F. Glut is a fan of Shock Theatre (1957) and its host Marvin. He wrote the book "Shock Theatre Chicago Style".
Several times during Shock Theatre's run it was promoted that Marvin was going to reveal Dear's face live on camera. When that date arrived and the camera was positioned behind Dear. As she slowly turned around toward the camera, the director of the show hit a switch to replicate a snow pattern to simulate loss of picture. People went crazy, calling up the station to complain, and writing letters. Everyone watching thought their TV's went out. Terry Bennett came up with this bit that was used several times on the show.
