Debutant director 'Shrey S. Srivastav' wanted Amitabh Bachchan to do the narration, but the young director didn't have access to the superstar.A ctress Kunika stepped in and called Amitabh's office. The actor's office promptly called Srivastav and told him to meet the actor, on hearing the script Amitabh agreed instantly and did his voiceover without charging a penny.
The film was previously titled " Bandhak".
Miss World Yukta Mookhey was signed for Heena' s role but later was dropped from the film.
Isha Khoppikar was signed for a role but opted out.
The film was based on the famous case of Mrityunjay Kumar Yadav and his politician mother Hemlata Yadav. The case was in every Bihar newspaper in 1995. Mrityunjay threatened to sue the makers of the film saying he was still appealing the case to the supreme court. He did not want the film to release.
