Quotes

The 3 Wise Men

Edit
  • Melchor: Do you see it now, Gaspar? Sometimes, other people are right, too.
  • Gaspar: [to his students] You've got big dreams? You want fame? Well, fame costs. And right here is where you start paying.
  • [hits floor twice with baton]
  • Gaspar: With sweat.
  • Gaspar: One man, one vote? That is outrageous! Are you saying that this fatso's vote will be worth as much as *mine*?
  • Melchor: Gold, for the one who proves his courage.
  • Gaspar: Frankincense, for the one who learns to be humble.
  • Baltasar: Myrrh, for the one who follows his heart.
  • Alfredo: Jimmy, you scared me half to death.
  • Jimmy: Hey, you don't close for another two hours. Did you do that on purpose?
  • Alfredo: Well, I knew that just at that moment you would skate in, loaded with Christmas lights, and I said to myself: "If I close the grates, it would look more spectacular." And it did.
  • Jimmy: Who are you? You're the strangest squirrel I've ever seen.
  • [gives Aristobules a treat]
  • Jimmy: What's the matter? Didn't you get your Christmas present this year? Me neither. So I'm not gonna believe in Christmas anymore.
  • Sara: Tyrant! Doesn't anyone have the guts to stick up to him?
  • Herodes: Another failure. I can't count on anyone. No, I didn't mean to say that. I can count on you.
  • [Belial enters the room]
  • Herodes: But all I've got is trouble. Everyone wants my throne. I need the royal treasures. I need them!
  • Belial: You're an oaf. You're looking in the wrong places.
  • Herodes: That's because I'm in a hurry! In a hurry! I'm an impatient king.
  • Belial: For a long time now, I've been studying the signs in the heavens, and they reveal we're closer to the treasures than ever before. We must not make any more false moves. An incredible force is about to emerge, and only with the powers of the treasures will I be able to destroy it. You just make sure you control the people. And above all, get a grip on yourself.
  • Herodes: I'm trying to, Belial.
  • Belial: Pathetic attempt.
  • Sara: You can't go see Herod. When he finds you what you're up to, he'll slit your throats. It's suicide! It's said that he's controlled by an evil being.
  • Gaspar: And now there's an evil being! This is just too much.
  • Melchor: Sarah, my dear, it's impossible for a king to be evil. Just look at the city he's built. Kings are good people. It's in their nature.
  • Sara: Listen to me! I'm begging you.
  • Baltasar: Sarah, it was the star that brought us here. You'll stay outside the palace gate. Let's go.
  • Sara: Not even scorpions cross his path.
  • Tobias: What punishment has Herod decreed for him?
  • Guard: Crucifixion.
  • Gaspar: [upon meeting Melchior and Balthasar] And who are you?
  • Baltasar: My name is Balthasar. I come from the lands of Nubia, and I have been searching for the same thing as you.
  • Gaspar: You are?
  • Baltasar: The three of us have been following the same star. I've been expecting you two for days.
  • Melchor: Oh! Well, I'm Melchior.
  • Baltasar: [shaking Melchior's hand] Melchior means king of the light, doesn't it?
  • Melchor: Oh, yes. Right quite... I mean, quite right you are.
  • Gaspar: King of the Light. Ha! Now I've heard everything. My name is Gaspar.
  • Melchor: A pleasure, Gaspar.
  • Gaspar: Charmed. It means son of all the constellations.
  • Alfredo: And although the three kings had managed to escape Herod and Belial's attack, and were well on their way to finding the royal treasures that would lead them to the King of Kings, the baby Jesus, what they didn't know then was that they would have to form a strong friendship between them in order to succeed.
  • Belial: I have to get that manuscript, but those magi are more powerful than I thought. They're journey must come to an end now! And this time, you're going to help me. It's about time you did something more than play games.
  • Herodes: And you? Why don't you show them once and for all just how powerful you are?
  • Belial: All in due time.
  • Sara: [upon stumbling the skeletons in a cave] Slaves. Many years ago, a group of slaves managed to escape from a mine like this one and took refuge in the only village that was brave enough to rebel against the tyrant - my village. Herod wanted to make an example out of us. I saw it all from my hiding place. He murdered everyone in the village. He murdered my parents. One soldier refused to obey his orders, but Herod killed him too. Herod had no mercy on him, his best general.
  • Tobias: What was his name?
  • Sara: His name?
  • [a scorpion stings Sarah on her hand. She faints]
  • Tobias: [rushing to her] Sarah! Sarah!
  • Belial: [about Tobias] So, he's the son of Jason? He could be very useful to us.
  • Gaspar: One star among millions.
  • Baltasar: We are very lucky.
