The game is a spin-off of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003).
The game reveals how Kate Brewster and the resistance were able to capture and reprogram The Terminator after The Terminator killed John Connor.
Aspects of the game were influenced by Grand Theft Auto III (2001) (VG) though the development team were careful not to create a GTA clone.
The cut scene which The T101 finds himself back in the future war when the TX throws him into a Time Displacement Field, which the T101 learns he failed his mission and that John and Kate are dead and taking the clothes and weapon of a dead soldier and gearing up and preparing for battle could had been the alternate ending of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) which the game is based on.
The T101's voice in the game was not provided by Arnold Schwarzenegger, but by Sean McNally.
