13th Grade (2005)

Trivia

13th Grade

Edit
The film cost $8,000 and was shot on random weekends over a two year period.
The exterior shot of Delaware D High is a real school named the Everett Meredith Middle School in Middletown, Delaware. For interior shots, seven different schools were used for filming.
The character of Corey was inspired by Corey Haim, which was the character's name in the first draft. However, Haim was never approached for the role as Dustin Diamond had always been the director's first choice.
J.J. Garvine (writer/director) met many of his cast and crew - including Jamie Snow (Principal Johnny), Khalil Wilson (Bomb Threat), Ron D'Aiuto (Pompous Boy), Melanie Thompson (Cold Jenny), Tonya Shatley (Dorothy), and producer Tai Parquet - while working at a bank in Newark, Delaware. The bank has since closed.
The original name of Principal Johnny was Johnny Castle, named after the Patrick Swazye character in Dirty Dancing (1987), and there were several Dirty Dancing quotes/jokes that were used for reference. They were all dropped by the second draft and the character was renamed Johnny Wellington, Jr.
