The original theme song "The Night They Returned" has been composed and performed by famous metal band Kataklysm. After the release of the song, Kataklysm's record label Nuclear Blast could not deliver an agreement allowing the film producer to use the track, forcing Sv Bell to use some other music as the theme song. The piece can be heard in Kataklysm's 2004 release "Serenity in Fire".
The swamp monster was supposed to be played by Jan Pivon, a trained stunt performer, but at the last minute the producers realized his athletic shape would not allow him into the rubber suit. The only person available on the set and that would fit in the costume was the caterer, so on top of doing hot dogs, the caterer ended up playing the monster as well.
