Yes. In all the films Leatherface is portrayed as having a child-like mind. He also cannot form words when he tries to speak. Leatherface also wears the skin masks due to a facial deformity.
As shown in this film, the small community they were in was so poor, they couldnt afford supplies. So they began killing outsiders, stealing their belongings and using their bodies for food.
Jedidiah (played by David Dorfman in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)") and Henrietta (played by Heather Kafka in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)") do not appear in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006)". The reasons are never specified, but it is alluded to that they simply are not a part of the Hewitt clan yet, or they were simply absent.
Even though the Unrated version features the "Unrated" label there aren't that many new scenes containing violence. Mostly, one can find extended story sequences or lines of dialogue that have been added for the Unrated release.
