totally agree, i didn't stay for the finish of the film.
To bad Pacala from old times .. disappeared :(!
I remember too how Pacala was.
When i was a little kid, they simply .. want to change our opinion or image!
I saw "the new" Pacala ... face to face ... he doesn't belong in that movie.
I heard production spent over 350.000 euro in making this film, a waste of time, money, and people credibility!
Just hope in the near future .. i'll see again on TV the real movie with Pacala!
Totally agree with Ursu77 ... don't even think of wasting 3 hours on this crap!

I had great hope, since I enjoyed the stories about Pacala while I was a kid. Also the original movie was fun. But this poor 3 hours remake has nothing to do with comedy.
You have absolutely nothing to laugh about. There are 2 or 3 funny moments towards the end of the movie, but nothing else. And you will notice that after the first 5-10 minutes into the movie, of dumb dialog. I just wanted to leave the cinema, but I have invited 2 friends and it would have been awkward. They did not enjoy the movie either.
Also, there are pretty many many scenes with sexual orientation, not very appreciated by the parents in the cinema who brought their kids to see Pacala.
The bottom line: DO NOT GO to see this film. It's horrible.

and besides that... I have to insist on the bad acting, bad script, etc... Though there were some jokes I find funny, like the Vlad Tepes one... Anyway, I stayed till the end just because of the cute guy, I know, I know, but that was kinda the only thing that would make (girls) people watch the movie. The sex scenes I think were something like: let's have more people come to the movie, we gotta show skin, legs and more kinda stuff. The rest was boring, very boring. And there were some stuff that came just out of the blew, like they had to fit in there but not introduced properly.

...not because I didn't like it. It had it's moments and anything that makes one giggle at least ten times an hour is worth watching. But, for God's sake, why did those awful animations have to be brought in? They made my heart skip a beat - and not in a good way - every time they showed up. Was it for censorship rates' sake - 'cause that's the only thing I can think of :O, and it doesn't even hold except for the scene with the lined-up herd (which could have been dealt with much more gracefully).
Come to think of it, the main reason I enjoyed this movie is because I am Romanian and I appreciate the spirit of our nation. The acting, I have to say, was barely up to par; the 'present day' parody, however, was... well, not as bad as the animations, but close to it.
In my humble opinion sticking more strictly to the original story would have worked out great. It's my guess that's what people expected of this piece in the first place. Better luck with Pacala 3 (tba 2020 :P)...

I saw the film and I liked it a lot. It's a very good comedy and I couldn't but laugh all the time while watching it. My two kids, my wife and I consider this comedy a successful one and I'm pretty sure not all the people can understand it. You need some general knowledge in order to understand everything, there are lots of proverbs and sayings in the movie and only those who read writers such as Anton Pann, from time to time at least, can really enjoy the film. All in all the film is excellent and the young actors, Anemona Niculescu and Denis Stefan are not only very beautiful but also talented. I recommend it to everyone who would like to see something cheerful and beautiful and who wants to laugh.

When I see a movie I really do not care about other commentaries. I just follow my guts, my intuition ,my taste ,my mood.... and after all I am entitled to my own opinion . I liked this movie a lot , but it is hard to understand it if you are not from Balkans , not from Europe (especially eastern Europe). It's got so many references to Romanian folk-stories ,Romanian riddles ,fairy tales and Romanian ethos , Romanian essence after all . We live in a (and especially in West) a world estranged of myths , mystics and legends. And that's bad ! Young generations they do not know their own people's proverbs , it is a shame ! This movie is full of hints to proverbs, riddles and folklore(all Romanian) .It is hard to relate if you got no knowledge about those things ! This sequel is almost good as the first one , too bad people they forgot the sense of humor . This is almost as depressing as that message in front of DANTE's INFERNO : LASCIATE OGNI SPERANZA VOI CHE'ENTRATE.... Leave all your hopes , you who are entering (the Inferno) Because if you don't have hope what is left ? No hope , faith , sense of humor.... This movie is comical in the Romanian way , and I loved it . Please watch it ! You will not regret it . Romanian cinema was in need for a (good) comedy , most of after '90 movies they were like LADRI DI BICICLETTE , neo-realistical , sad, tragic but true but then once in a while you need some entertainment like this comedy for a change . People do not loose the sense of humor !
