Goofs

Factory Girl

Edit

Continuity

When the Musician is talking to Edie on the lake dock he tosses and shatters his beer bottle on the dock, in the next shot when he propels his motorcycle into the lake no shattered beer bottle pieces can be seen.
When Sam first points out Edie Sedgwick to Andy Warhol, Gerard Malanga stands between Sam and Andy with a video camera. In the next shot, Gerard is standing right in front of Edie videotaping her. A couple of shots later you see Gerard standing between Sam and Andy again.
When Andy phones Brigid while looking at Edie's picture, his thumb nail goes from being broken to intact spontaneously.

Factual errors

Edie Sedgwick's relationship to Nico is depicted incorrectly: in reality they were friends and Edie warned Nico about Andy Warhol's behavior. Edie's death was very sad for Nico.
In reality, on the photo that shows Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgwick in front of the New York skyline, he does not wear shades.
Andy Warhol and Edie attend the New York City premiere of Darling (1965) in August 1965 a month after Andy is seen watching I Dream of Jeannie (1965), which didn't premiere on television until mid September.

Revealing mistakes

When Edie Sedgwick reads the paper about Billy's wedding, try to freeze the scene. Except for the first few lines that talk about the wedding, it repeats nonsense text: "Dr. Kenneth B. Clement, ranaround naked chanting 'Banana Man.' narrowest margin in amayoral election. The final count withal precincts reporting, was Locher to Stokes.", over and over as filler space.

Anachronisms

Edie and her lawyer mention "tough love," a buzz phrase that didn't enter vernacular until 1980 or thereabouts.
Richie says she's shooting Adderall, which wasn't brought to market until 1996.
Andy Warhol is arranging silver foil balloons on the roof which weren't produced until the 1970s.
Campbell's tomato soup cans in Andy's kitchen cupboard have the more modern label featuring upper and lower case typography, not the ones with all capital letters in use during the Sixties.
The 1966 song Psychotic Reaction is heard on soundtrack prior to a scene featuring a billboard advertising the 1965 Ford Mustang.

Plot holes

How did Edie and the musician get back to New York City after he pushed his motorcycle into the lake? If it were submerged for a long period of time it would have caused damage to the engine.

Character error

Edie Sedgwick's opening lines state that her "great-great-great-great uncle was a signer of the Declaration of Independence...". It was in fact her great-great-great uncle, William Ellery who was the signatory of the United States Declaration of Independence in 1776.
The newspaper clipping handed to Edie lists Billy's name as "Tommy Quinn."
